I do feel your pain Bagrat, I have chased many to the ends of the Aces High earth myself.  If they are below me I'll attack them.  If they are above me, I'll press them until they come and fight or run.  If they run, I don't chase.  I just store the info in my SA mental picture and assume that they could become a threat again soon, and then move on to another red guy.

With that said, I must say I am beginning to embrace Grizzology*.  A general feeling of it's their money.  If they want to spend the night sight-seeing and not fighting, so be it.  It's their way of having fun, and unfortunately it is not yours or mine.

first of all :cry :cry :cry I try not to whine often but c'mon now.

I was tryin to perk farm today in a p-40b, not the most intimidating plane as it is only armed with 4x.303 and 2x.50 cals. To my surprise La-7's, P-51's, Spit16 were still running from me without another greeny for an entire sector! screw em Ill continue on to the enemy base to see if anybody actually plays this game to dogfight, 6 red cons pop up on screen and guess who finally got the balls to fight now that the odds are 7v1. This scenario was repeated numerous times today.
Dam man if your gonna run fine! Dont come back an BnZ me while im already fighting with 3 or 4 planes!

Also I get into a 2v1 a couple of times and once i shoot one down the other guy runs....quality AH

A result of worrying about worthless score? maybe, but dam how are people gonna run from a 1v1 against a p-40b. I wonder if getting rid of worthless score would cause people to worry a little less about dieing.

LMFAO!!!

This coming from the same gal that upped a 262 with a 47 in tow to come kill my 262.  So I decide to extend her out a little bit and make this a 1 v 1.  I'm sure you all know the answer...with me offering my 6, I reverse on the 262 and see the 47 is still with us in the distance.  This is not going to be a "good" 1 v 1.  We reverse 1 more time and she HO's the you know what out me.  Something about the "quality" in AH?   :aok

If you're lucky enough to get a 1v1 then plane type or altitude shouldn't be a consideration.  I find it a refreshing change to be shot down by a single plane instead of three or four.
You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

If the guy just keeps running and turning back when you disengage just bail, and from the tower check the map for the largest enemy darbar.  Sometimes you have to switch sides and find one.

If you don't care about score, then take em all on and see how long you can last. I personally think that's the best way to learn and or find your favorite ride.

Getting rid of score won't stop timid flying habits, a eunich will always be a eunich and nothing will make his little boys grow back.

dude.....sometimes i don't like what akak has to say either.

the fact is however, that the dude says what he sees, and what he thinks, when he thinks it. he calls a spade a spade. the truth hurts sometimes.

he called me timid months ago. it pissed me off. the fact was though that(sadly) he was 100% correct. i was afraid to lose my cartoon airplane. thankfully i'm not flying like that anymore.

if you don't like what he has to say, then don't read his posts.

In mind little mind the problem with a refusal to engage w/out securing every possible advantage of speed, numbers, alt, etc. is that It's ultimately going to be self defeating and preventing the player from moving on and developing a more rounded skill set.   We all learn by doing, experience and repetition.  I could read all the books I could get my hands on about ACM and air combat theory but until I go into the game and try it out I won't really learn and understand it.

If the goal is ultimately improve so that when faced with something less than the ideal situation the player will be able to handle it and emerge victorious than the only recourse is to put yourself in that situation and learn it.  The problem is that for most of us, learning is oftentimes uncomfortable because we're facing a new scenario and haven't yet equipped ourselves with the tools to handle it.  What that means in the game is violent cartoon death which can lead to real world frustration and anger.  The trick becomes how to mix in enough success with the failures during the learning process to keep on going.

Yes, sadly that is the case, although I will be the first to admit that I fly more cautiously than most, and I do experience a huge level of frustration (this morning) and I will yell a lot at the screen (also this morning).  Still, I think there's a fine line between outright cowardice and picking your situation. Personally I'd rather not go charging into a mess of red for no real in-game advantage, and I see no reason for going in outnumbered when you've got a mess of buddies 6k behind you.  Maybe it's because I'm thinking strategically, but getting shot down over and over again isn't really my idea of fun, even if it is unavoidable.

The truth is this game is a lot like golf.  You have days where your timing is off, or your positioning, or someone gets a lucky ping, or there's just too many Muppets and Few's out.  Then there are days when you land 2-3 kills every sortie (or at least get 2 for every time they kill you). It's just part of the game.

I gotta remember that....

This game is a lot like golf in that regard.  Some nights the plane feels light, you hit your shots and all is well, other nights it feels like Mir paid your crew chief $20 to paint a big bulls-eye on your plane when you weren't looking.

While I do firmly believe the best and quickest way to learn something is by sitting down and doing it, it's equally important to manage the failures that come with the learning process and balance them out with enough success to keep frustration at bay.  It's a lot easier to deal with "losing" if you feel that it's constructive in some fashion, it's a long slow road and it's full of pot holes and pit falls.  I've been flying AH for 10 years now and I'm still learning things, it's both the source of never ending frustration but also a lot of fun.  I think if I won every fight I got into I would be bored by now, but I don't think I have to worry about that any time soon. :)

And if worse comes to worst try to remember it's just a silly little game.  Which is harder to do than it sounds I fail in this regard often myself. :)

So, you are saying that if score was removed that you wouldn't be such a timid player?

I feel your pain. Few people want to actually fight anymore unless they have help. As I mentioned in another thread. Whats typically been happening is even if they have a starting advantage, They make their pass then run to their feild and hide within range of their base ack. Or as soon as they either loose their advantage or it gets to the point where its fair. They run to their field. And try to draw you in so they can get the free proxie kill. Orr they run to wherever a crowd of their friends are

THIS is the downside to the newer improved  base ack. And why I think proxies should no longer be awarded.
Everyone just seems to want to hide in it.

When I first met Waystin he always turned up on the deck surrounded by red lice in the bushs. He would always ask me to help him. He always got me killed.

Now the game has gotten so bad Waystin flys out ahead of the squad so he can dive down into hoards of red lice maybe to get a single kill before they all scatter from the pissed off crazy Waystin. Come to think of it he does this at all atltitudes these days because he's afraid the hoard of red tardlings will runaway.

Thanks to the muppets the only players who might fight a K4 is another K4. Recently when I dive into a furball I've had cons augering trying to get away from the K4. If the timid hoards aren't bad enough the muppets had to go and Pavlov them with K4's.

Hoardlings even run away from the I16 these days.
