Black album was bubble gum?
Come on man, even you should be astute enough to understand they had "sold out" by the making of this more "mainstream marketed" record. To say "no" to the fact that Metallica themselves have admitted, says a lot about their fan base.
I was 10 years old when Kill em All was released and loved it as much then, as I do now. Ride the Lightning was great, but "Orion" on MoP is their Opus. Here is a song that is damn near perfect in song, that lyrics aren't even needed. "One", "Blackened" and ...And Justice were overplayed and started the "mainstream breakout" altogether.
Today, they are a small shell of their former selves. Suing Napster, so they could use the money for more blow (before their personal dealings as addicts). Lars, trying to come across as one of the most intellectual humans ever to grace the Earth. Kirk Hammett and Trujillo are excellent musicians and hopefully get their share of proper input in the coming albums.
I choose to remember pre ...And Justice and ignore all of their "hype" from new releases. Although, Trujillo is their best Bassist since Burton. Newstead was not as "free-form" as I thought he could have been.
