Remember that AOL was once valued at $166 billion (before the TW merger). It is now at $2.5 billion (and falling).  Like Facebook, many thought that AOL was once the center of the universe.  Something else always comes along.  Or, in the case of AOL, your product becomes obsolete.

I think Facebook is currently at it's peak. It may not be long before the decline starts.
But then again, we'll all die next year so it doesn't matter either way  :devil

Had a Facebook for about three months.

I used it to get in touch with some old friends. I got their phone numbers and addresses and promptly closed out the facebook. Haven't been back.

I also hated all the friend requests from people that I either didn't really like or hardly knew. I felt like a heal, because I would never friend anyone. I just wanted them to go away.

Facebook sucks.

Edit: I misspelled "heel".  :rofl

Why? Because what I'd say would probably offend Trigger. That, and I like topics
to stay on topic. I love how you call me a fool, it gives my ribs a good stretch laughing
at you like that.

Regarding facebook, I stinking hate their chat and I'm rather angry that they forced
me to have the new profile with no option of going back. Other than that, I like being
able to keep in touch with old friends, while making a new one every now and again.
Awesome way to keep up with events around my area too. Going to an Alaska SCCA
Rallycross event this Saturday, thanks to Facebook

There was already an internet bubble that burst...it was called the late 90's.  You must have missed it.

FB is no where near worth that.  It was valued at $55M as a website as of last year.

Nah, you just can't read.  He said 2.0.  Kind of implies a second one eh?  :neener:

Facebook is just another information mine and advertising portal. I don't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

I'm sure many, if not all of you have seen this. Some interesting information about Facebook and the venture capitalists that helped get it running.

Never seen that before, but that shows you just where that 55 billion net worth comes from, companies paying big bucks to get there hands on all that data it collects on users.

As for the CIA using it to collect data on people I really don't care, if they want to know what movies I like or what music I listen to there welcome to it.

It's not like they have your SSN, or credit card #'s or anything, at most they have your email address, which just about any website you sign up with has, so what kinda info do you think they have that is in need of protection?

Also you can set your Facebook page so only people who you've selected to be your friends can see any info you have, thats how I have my page set, you have to be my friend to see anything other then my name.

biggest gripe when people say they give away personal information is that you can put your phone number, where you live, your highschool, job, etc. but what most the gripers forget is that all of that is OPTIONAL. facebook doesnt force you to fill in every blank, you do so at your own "risk". and also stated above you can set your stuff to private/block people. first person i blocked was my mother.  :uhoh
