So I'm comin' in hot.

Oil pressure and fuel level are both near zero.

Half a wing is missing.

This is gonna be close. Is my speed right? Check my list. Have I got gear? Man, this game gets intense sometimes. That runway looks like a narrow target.

Oh wait, I just gotta flop her down anywhere on the field. Oh heck, no big deal then. I thought this game was exciting for a minute.

Would you say it was a successful landing if an airliner pilot landed his 737 beside the runway as opposed to on it?

if that was his only option because of some circumstance and no one was injured or killed..yes I would have to say its a succesful landing.

There is something wrong.

1. Ditching (with only fuel empty) into an airfield --> no message 'you get x kills'

2. landing on the deck with no gear down  ---> message 'yuo get x kills'

There is nothing wrong.  Touch the concrete an you're fine.  I've been in a hurry to land, banged my prop, skidded off the concrete and got a ditch for my multiple-kill sortie.  Big deal...that's just the way it is.

So when I successfully slide my 163 into the main hanger on a vBase, it shouldn't be a successful landing?

You got credit for the kills, just not your name in the lights.  It's a ridiculous wish. You have to land within the determined boundaries to get full credit.  Why is that so hard to accept.

Being a little hard on him aren't you?

Everything that makes the game harder does not always make it better. Getting back to base with a wounded aircraft is the hard part. Emersion is a great part of making the game fun. Realistic challenges are better than silly ones. Returning to base and landing on the field with a damaged plane, but missing the gray patch of ground by two feet seems more silly than realistic. I think that's why people question it.

You really don;t think there could be an improved version that creates better emerssion and maintains the challenge of a 'successful' landing. Come on, you're the expert/veteran/ guy. You can do better than that.  :aok
