I think I agree with you Lusche,so I say why not make it so if you score a single kill you get your name in lights!

This would basiically render the whole thing as meaningless and quite possibly have the effect that Juggler and others are seeking.

            Thoughts!

     :salute
that could actually work...strangely enough  :lol

the way it is now, it's bad enough seeing "<dorkus> landed 2 kills in a spixteen" followed by a bunch of wtg's...as if it's an accomplishment. i saw someone land 5 kills in a p-40e last night in lw blue...that deserved a wtg.

 Exactly gyrene.

So instead of taking away that sense of accomplishment, make so simple even a caveman can do it!

The only downside I can see is the text buffer being more active but anyone with 200 tuned shouldnt notice much difference... :D

Hehe... this gave me an idea for another analysis: How many 2,3,4 and so on landing messages do we see in a given time, and what's the approximate % of missions ending with name in lights? :D

Think I will take a look at it this weekend  :rock

well see the problem is that everybody has different standards.  and even when it comes to which aircraft to fly  there are so many opinions.  Me I would prefer everybody learn to fly in a spitfire, hurricane, zero, or any other fighter with a max speed of 200.  there there are some who say dont fly those, it teaches you bad acm.   so which player is right?  what about those who only enjoy gv'ing and hate to be bombed.  or those who only want to fly buffs.

I pm a player the other day who I always see diving and running about turning his pony once in a while.  his reply was, that's how he enjoys the game.  how can you argue with that.  his 15 bucks, he has fun, how can you argue against that.

some of you guys want other players to play according to your idea of how the game should be played.  guess what, it wont happen.  you can argue to death that ho'oing or ramming another plane is stupid.  some of us will shoot think it is fun to shoot a plane coming head and will shoot and try to avoid the other players guns.  is it stupid playing like that?  probably, but heck it is fun as hell too.

so i guess play the game according to how you want to play and stop worrying so much about what the other player does.  after all the only reason we play this game is because we have fun.

Hmm, you sound like "it's all good in the hood". I distinctly remember bagging your rtb/afk pony with a jet a while back. It was less fun for you, I could tell from the name calling and 5 days of grief and jabs you dealt out. Honestly, the things I dribble about are bad how? Buzzing around at the edge of a base, zoomming in for the cherry on some dude who is in a fight with 3 or 4 at a complete disadvantage is FUN how? and how is this style any different than vulching and how is this BETTER than poppin your pony with a jet when I was the only green guy around in a sea of red?

Our ideas of fun are very different indeed, I'd say yours leans more towards xbox, and mine leans towards self mutilation.

Using you as an example, I honestly believe if there was no instant system message and no WTGs at the end of your cherry festing you and many others would be less inclined to fly sooo safe! It's just a thought I have, maybe a dream   :aok

Thats the way it was a long time ago, but like you said in your next post, it was changed because you couldn't read anything on the text buffer as the "name in lights" could really get rolling!

I think it is fine the way it is.

Can the System channel be squelched?  If not, I have never tried, it wouldn't bother me if HTC allowed players to squelch the channel if they wished.

I vaguely remember you can.... but that may also squelch the .s <S> messages, if my memory serves me right.  :headscratch:

Thanks Shane, new info for me for sure.

I wouldn't mind a little pwnsauce a la Shane sometime.  I like a good fight, even when I get smacked down.

just an idea, have the text buffer list it as follows  "scotty57 landed 2 air to air kills" (which  never happens ) or 2 air to ground kills, vulches would count under this or 2 vehicle to vehicle kills.

I really like scoring any kills on the ground as "ground" kills or GV kills rather than fighter kills

JUGgler

never owned an xbox.  last system I had was a ps2 which i bought to play moh and I think I bought 3 of them.

but now that you mention cherry picking, isnt that what you do in your 262?  wait for somebody to get distracted so you can come in low and pick.

looking forward for you to post another meaningless thread so you can get your "look at me" fix.

Now now semp, I find it very telling how you got soo upset over a single incident of me popping your "cherryscalp laiden" pony while you were afk.

Honestly, the pigs and I have gotten on quite well for some time now, I have donated hundreds of scalps to your squad while harvesting very few in return, mostly due to "where and how" I fly and "where and how" you fly!
You have harvested countless cherry scalps from me then I get you 1 time with a jet and you are so butt hurt over it you start the name calling "Azzwipe" was the 1st if memory serves then a week long dissertation on how lame jet-tards are. All over one silly kill, I think if it was just another JUG cherry pik in "your sack" we'd still be friendly :aok

Irony is very Ironic indeed

As far as my jet flying goes, I still do not go to the edge of a base to collect easy scalps, I fly jets against the horde only. Hell one of my favorite things to do is fly "expensive" jets and hunt cheap ones, how many folks do you see doing that? you? Bah! Oh I imagine the jet is waaaaaay to tardish for you<-- very funny indeed as the horde and cherryfest is NOT to tardish for you ;)

You elude to some hypocrasy on my part, I assure you there is very little. So either post proof of my hypocracy or let it go and lets get back to our "1 sided" gaming relationship! Don't look for something that isn't there, you'll go insane.

As far as the "me me me" goes well you can spin that any way you like, but I offer thru example a higher quality fight for my opponents, nothing wrong with wanting the same in return once in a while! Several Pigs offer it up in spades, you should also every now and then  :aok

If you continue to have grief with me lets settle it in private, changeup and I have and now our love is blossoming
