Thanks!  I've looked at hundreds of dealers online inventories, made dozens of phone calls and have stopped in to about 20 different dealerships when I saw a Mustang that looked a little bit like what I'm looking for.  PA, DE, KY, SC, GA, OH and places in between so far.  I'm going to give the search another 2 weeks or so before I just order the thing.  Though more than one dealership has offered to order it for no deposit since they know they're going to sell it so I may as well sooner rather than later.  Decisions, decisions.

My only question is will I end up paying Dealer Invoice +1000 because you're involved, or MSRP +1000?  That will change my mind on whether or not I ask for help  :neener:

Fool. Buy a couple of Ford stock. I bought 5 myself. Send your proof of stock ownership to get your Xplan pin from Ford. Give your pin to the dealer, enjoy your savings, bless the French guy.

It looked to me like they dyno'd it and then converted the rwhp number to crank hp.

I don't know why they'd do that but those magazine guys seem to do a lot of wacky stuff.  It would make sense to convert it to compare to the claimed 412hp, but any car guy would want to know what it actually puts to the ground too.

yea, they do, and to be honest, i hadn't noticed before that they never said "rear wheel hp". i've never dealt with a horsepower dyno myself, so i thought that the readings from there were just that.....guess i was wrong. it happens.

fact it it's still the quickest of the pony cars, best handling(real world), and most popular.

noticed a red camaro, and a black camaro on the lot down at the ford dealer just a mile from my shop......the red one was labeled as a 2010. wonder which stang they bought.  :aok

i got a question on this link. first off....is it correct, and true? secondly.......lets see if i understand this correctly.

ford(or whichever one) lends me money to buy that shiny new mustang, by letting me take it off the lot for my signature, and say for instance $10k down.
now, they turn around, and sell that loan to hitech's loan purchasing service, in order to put cash(so to speak) back in their pocket(or bank account), so they can research/improve/build more cars.
 do i understand that correctly?

i'm just bumping this one, because i haven't seen an answer to it yet.

CAP u saw those dyno numbers previous page?

About the loan, idk, don't see what's so bad about it. My house home loan was the same. Richmond American builders have their own mortgage company. They gather all the mortgages of the last couple of months and put them to auction. I ended up with BOA. Clever way to make money. Loans terms can't be change do why do I care anyway?

yea i did. like i said...i was wrong, due to my presumption of them using rear wheel numbers, seeing as it was on a chassis dyno.

yea....my mortgage was bought by gmac. i forget who it was originally with......

the numbers though, don't matter much(well...they sort of do  :devil) when you're driving the car that's out front though.  :D

Not a little biased are you?  Not too well informed either.   There have been a slew of comparisons between the Mustang, Camaro and Charger.  The Mustang always cleaned the Camaro and Chargers clock.

Not till this year has the mustang the ability to compete. Last year the v8 gt was barely able to handle the v6 camaro. :)

As of now the most performance camaro wise is the SS. There are more packages on the way though.

Suffler, Flipperk, I didn't really wish to get involved, but you are being such a tool about it.  :frown:

Son ... the Mustang is not going away anytime soon. You even posting that article is a clear statement that you know very little about those cars ... or you are so galuable that I'm surprised you are not waiting to hear about your wife ... the Nigarian pricess ... that drained your bank account lately.

It is indeed a fact that the Camaro is outselling the Mustang months after months, but look at the numbers, it's not a crushing victory. The gap increased last couple of months not because people woke up thinking the Mustang was garbage, but because the dealers ran out of them. The shortage of the 3.7 that you mentioned, plus other factors such as the tsunami in Japan that destroyed the paint factory creating a shortage in some colors. Dealers cannot order enought of them, nor keep them in stock, which in any economics books is NOT a sign of going bankrupt.

Competition is what is awsome, there would not be no ZL1 if there wasn't a GT500 ... there would be no 400+HP Mustang GT if there wasn't a Camaro SS. Mustang keeps improving year after year, 2010 new body style/suspension/interior, 2011 2 brand new engines matching Camaro's output.

2011-12 Boss 302 and 302 LS. I mean seriously? A sub $50K c ar like the LS will put you ahead of a Porsche 997 GT3, Turbo or Turbo S at Laguna Seca right behind the Devon, ZR1 and ACR. And the $40,000 straight Boss will still put you ahead of a Nissan GTR, Audi R8 4.2 Quatro, Corvette Z06, Cadillac CTS-V, BMW M3, Aston Martin V12 Vantage .... I mean comon ... don't see any $40 Camaro SS in there

http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna_seca.html

The claim about the bulk of Camaro buyers being Mustan g ownners is hilliarous, and shamefull. I guaranty you that it's not the guy that bought a 2010/2011 Mustang that decides to turn around and buy a Camaro ... no really ... you  buy that?

As far as the claim by Flipwerk Camaros are about giving you a muscle car with all of those upgrades as stock parts. That's why Mustangs are not doing well. Do you even know what a 1SS and 2SS package is? Obviously not otherwise you'll not make a fool of yourself with "look at me I watched Transformer I know about cars" clown statement.

It's ok to have a favorite car or brand, like you obviously to Marchbrum, ... or CAP ... but when you start throwing crap around like you know, you just look like a clown toward the more mature crowd.

Anyway, Camaro sales are killing the Mustang  ... yeah ... might I remind GM that Mustangs outsold Camaros like 500,000 to 0 between 2005-09 ... so they have quite some catching up to do

I posted the magazine story. Figured to get some healthy discussion going. Most has been interesting. Always fun to have the old late 60s rivalry going. Your use of name calling just shows your weakness in the ability to have a fun discussion. I did not read your post because it failed in the first sentence.

Quite a few.   I still recall in either 90 or 91, one of the magazines did a head to head on the Mustang GT and the Corvette.    The GT had a faster 0-60 and IIRC a faster 1/4 mile.   Not too shabby.

Truth be told.  I would have no problem owning a Vette.
