I checked out some youtube vids of that laser. Sweet laser system ya got there shuffler. Any idea what wavelength it uses or what the lasing medium is? My guess would make it a Nd:YAG laser with a IR output.
I miss working on lasers.  :cry

It's not yag... much more powerful. Ours is 6 kilowatt gas assist. We can cut and etch most any type of metals. We can cut wood and plastic but do not as it is very messy.

Nice thing about yag though is it's ability to etch in colors. :)

Right now I'm in my third semester trying to become a History teacher.  During breaks I work at a local seed company that cleans, treats, and sells beans and wheat.  Most of the time I'm on a forklift moving bulk bags filled with anywhere from 1400 to 2700 pounds of seed, loading/unloading, cutting and dumping, etc...

Here's the most common view I have.  Dumping the beans into a hopper that feeds onto a belt, which then dumps the beans into a hopper bottom.

This is just a quick picture I snapped of the beans once they are in the hopper.

Unloading a truck into the pit, which will take the beans to whatever bin we need it to.

Am I wrong to think it is a work of beauty??

Absolutely not!  My grandfather was a truck driver and owned a trucking business until 1996.  I've always had a huge respect for truck drivers.  People don't realize just how important you guys are.

When things in R/L straighten up I will be driving something similar to this. Am I wrong to think it is a work of beauty??

Ans yes it will be with that company too, if it wasn't for the situation at home i would be driving for them already.

first person i've ever met that actually wanted to drive for prime, better than jb hunt or schneider though. just be aware they are one of several companies known to run their drivers until they drop. if you go reefer you will get more loads/mile than flatbed or tanker. personally if i was gonna get on the road again, i would check with heartland express or millis.

Seed wheat sucks, especially the red treated stuff. Had to mix it with fertilizer, sucked :(

Oh yeah.  When we load seed tenders, you actually have to get in the tender with the wheat to move around the hose on the belt so it loads evenly.  Aside from getting a high off the smell of the chemicals, my boots have a new red tint! lol

Most I have done is load it from a blender into a belt into the truck. Had a homemade rake to level it out on the sides and top

It's not too bad, usually I'm the one dumping it onto the belt so I don't have to worry about it, but when I work on small breaks and weekends I get the shorter end of the stick lol

Same, except 2 more years in school then RAAF. I basically live on base anyway, and I've flown out of RAAF bases before plenty of times.

In the meantime, I'm employed as a casual worker for a freight company.

 :salute

They let you do that?
USAF does not let you land at their bases unless it's an airshow. If you do chances are you'll have to take apart your plane and take it out on a truck.

Hopefully you will keep it cleaner than that. Not a bad company from what I hear. Does their flatbed pay better?

When it comes to my truck I am assanine about it and keept it polished and shined. Their flatbed division does alot of steel hauling and pays more than reefer. I just can't wait till I get back OTR or regional so I can relax. LOL

gyrene I checked out Heartland and Millis and they just were not what i wanted. I want to get paid what I am worth not what they think I should get paid. Sure they pay 51 cents a mile but when you are maxed out at 1300 miles a week ...you figure it out. Plus I am looking at owning the truck. Just my wish and I will fulfill my wish.

within cap, they allow us to do this, but with prior permission most times...i think it's 48 hours notice.

i was working the pattern at mcguire with my cfi a few years back. we were doing low approaches, and bob was working with me in crosswinds. after the 3rd or 4th pass, he took the radio, and asked them if we could make the next pass a touch n go. there was silence, then after a few seconds, they explained to us that they don't normally allow that without prior permission, but gave us permission.
