You need a second opinion and you need one now. There is a scam among unprofessional dental offices (chain type stores) to perform this type of unnecessary work. This can affect your daughters teeth for a lifetime. Im no dentist but have seen this type of work performed before for medical billing purposes. Do not go to a Dentist-R-Us type dental office like aspen dental or castle dental. Go to a stand alone office that has a good reputation in your vicinity. Do your homework and get a second opinion ASAP.

Sounds like a poor dentist. You don't have any recourse though as someone OK'd him to do what he did.

so my daughter went to the dentist today, shes almost 2.  she fell and chipped her top front tooth is the reason she went.  She came out with a SILVER GRILL   I didnt go with her was working, the dentist told the wifey that she had a couple cavities forming on the lower teeth so he crowned all her lower teeth.  But was looking online and one place said that they only crown severly rotten teeth and her teeth are far from rotten. I know that they fall out but a totally silver mouth. WTF!!

I sense a lawsuit or divorce in the waters, everyone, OUTA THE POOL!

Just an FYI about orthodontist. It is recommended to see an orthodontist for children around age 12. If my parents had taken me I would have had a better set of teeth. My teeth were crowded and needed an upper pallet spreader to widen my upper back teeth. It's a fairly cheap thing to get. Had my parents took me in, I would have saved a lot of pain and money. I ended up having to get braces in my early 20's. Teeth like to rotate (at this in my case) when crowded together. Why age 12? That is the time before the upper pallet in a person's mouth hardens into bone. The upper pallet usually hardens around ages 17-18 and an upper spreader won't work after that.

yeah she has an opointment to see another dentist on tuesday to see if all of this was unnecessary.  I dont see why he did it I mean her teeth were as white as paper.  Contacted several dentists today while I was at work and they all seem to think it was way overboard, no xrays or anything.  I feel like taking a crowbar to the guy if this other dentist says it was uncalled for :devil but the wifey wont let me

This person/dentist was in the room with your child all alone with no parent supervision??

Sorry for the questions but it seems now that we are missing some of the story. Obviously you want input since you posted here on the boards.

What I understand so far is your wife took your small child to a dentist and he did a bunch of work without your wife's authorization or knowledge.

Is this correct?

If a tooth has taken a hit it might have come somewhat loose. The ligaments holding the tooth can have been stretched but can firm up after a while, so the tooth may need to be fixated, to give it rest. This can be done with a metal wire attached to the neighboor teeth(s) and depending on the occlusion the wire can be placed either on the front or the back of the teeth. After some time the wire can be removed, depending on how big a hit the tooth had taken.

Capping teeth (ceramic or metal/gold) involves taking impressions of the teeth, so a dental lab can make the crowns to fit 100% correct. This is a process that usually takes several days and not something that is made on a single visit. It's not just large amalgam fillings in the lower teeth?

Just trying to get a better understanding about what treatment has been made.
If someone comes in with a chipped tooth, the first thing I would do would be to take an x-ray, so that sounds strange.

had them fax what was done this morning and it says: code-02930 prefab. stainless steel crown primary.  All jibberish to me but I looked it up last night and a crown has to be fitted over the tooth, so the tooth has to be ground down inorder for it to go over.   everyone I talked to said he should have xrayed, but I have no clue and each individual tooth has this on it
