They stopped vehicle inspection here.  However, the police will give you a ticket and put a point on your record if a cop finds anything wrong.

Got the test done...

Legal limit in MD was 35% light penetration. Mine was at 15%.

Now, it's at 100%.

I'm surprised you weren't pulled over the first time you drove the car.

I used to be a tech. down the street at VOB nissan.

I've had it about 6 months. Drive it usually just on the weekends. Got pulled over once before, because I didn't have the front tags on. Cop never mentioned it.

Speaking of front tags....

If you're visiting the DC/NOVA/MD metropolitan area from a state that doesn't have front tags, do yourself a favor and get a front tag that has the name of your state in large letters.

It will stop those U-turns and pursuits before they happen.

Had my cars tinted here an there for years.
Every state is different.

When I need tinting I do the research and find out what's legal .. no muss no fuss.

true, funny story:

Useda race my lil '62 Nova wagon in NHRA brackets ..same track, same inspectors, for a year or so.
Workin at a speed shop part time, I got a lotta decals.. my tool box got full so I started stickin 'em on the back side windows.
One fine day, the tech inspector says I had to remove them from the back side windows, as it blocked the drivers vision.

Well.

I had the back doors welded shut, took out the back side windows, put in aluminum sheet panels, did a bit of body work,
..voila!

Sedan Delivery instead of Station Wagon.

Completely legal.. and we both laughed about it at the next race.
(and the car was lighter and faster ..had no idea those windows were so heavy)

A few weeks ago, I met my brother for lunch. He's a County Deputy (usually flies their airplane). As he arrived at the restaurant (in the patrol car), he was behind an Altima with dark tinted head lamps and tail lamps. You could not see the turn signal; the tint was that dark. He wrote him for that. The headlights were so dim, you could not hope to see much of anything at night. He wrote him for that too. He let him slide on the dark window tints, but suggested the kid get those off as well. I saw the Nissan myself... I could barely see the kid's flashers.. There's a narrow line between being "cool' and being stupid. This kid was on the wrong side of the line.
