I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy a chinese ripoff charger of ebay in a few months for $2, which may or may not fry your iPhone.

what happens when you plug your HTC into someone elses charger and it gets fried? :headscratch:

I am interested in how Apple handles themselfs within the next couple of years, without Jobs, obviously. Jobs' main focus was making a good product. He knew if he did that, the business would prosper. I wonder if the top Apple executives share the same philosophy.

FWIW - I have a Galaxy S and it does everything I need it to. The best part is - I got it for free. I do want an iPad primarily for the aviation-related apps and do intend on purchasing one. The Nexus 7 has gotten some pretty good reviews from pilots, though (and it's much cheaper)!

In the writeup it says there is a chip on the power side in the cable. Highly unusual. They said itr will make it much harder to copy.

The thing is.... why is it so important to apple to keep folks from charging their phones?

micro USB is a standard you know...if the plug fits the electric current is right. Amusing to see everyone agreed on a standard, except apple, that puts the same electricity in a different shaped plug, just so you have to buy their chargers, feel different and unique.

Any USB charger, with the mini USB plug, seems to works fine with the Samsung Galaxy S3.  My Wife uses one charger/power supply for her phone, Garmin GPS unit, and Kindle.  The USB bus spec, for power, does have a fixed power handling capacity and voltage level.

wat
I have an Inspire and I don't even have an HTC charger anymore
I think I'm using like a Samsung (or the USB slot on my power strip depending) base with various random USB to microUSB cables

It's a great phone, I'm very clumsy with it and it gets thrown around a lot, much of the paint has been stripped off the corners from dropping it on concrete and such, and nothing has ever happened functionally until I jammed a hood shock into it with... significant force and the screen spiderwebbed. Phone still works fine.

I think pretty much everyone has shattered an iPhone at some point or another, even with a case on. I have no clue why they made the back glass, that's just ridiculous.

Used iPads? I'll need to look into that. I wouldn't mind buying a used iPad if I could see it in person first (there's a game stop 10 minutes from my house) Thanks for the info.

I have one...it's great for what I bought it for...on the go at college where I don't really need to carry around a laptop. It's the 3rd gen, 32gb. 16gb was just too small for me with only 12gb usable.

I bought 2 4 dollar chargers plus one car charger, two hdmi cables,  1 hdmi for my computer and two extra long cables.   All for about 25 bucks.  used them on my droidx. and couple other phones with no problems.
