I shot up a few guys with the small ammo load of the yak9 and watched them land off field because engine damage kept them from making a runway.

I circulated overhead nearby for a while and flew back to my base to land half expecting to see the kill message when they towered out but no kill message.

I viewed the film and noticed the ditched plane start floating vertically slowly climbing to about 300 feet so I am assuming people are disco'ing and somehow denying the kill to the person who downed thier plane.

This has happened to me a lot of times in the last 2 or 3 months and was super super extra mega rare before that.

they got a ditch if they landed close to their field.  not sure what the exact requirements are but it happens to me a lot, then again I also will ditch the plane when I am shot to the point of being unable to rtb.

This is thoroughly frustrating. You shoot a guy to the point where he  crashes at low enough speed to survive, or too damaged to continue to fight so he ditches and towers out a km from his base. He gets a ditch you get nothing.
Fly your smoking shot up plane back to your own base and slide a foot off the runway because of the pilot wound blacking you out. And you get a ditch. Now that is ridiculous. You telling me the guys on the airfield would not push your plane into a hanger and fix it? Or would your CO chew you out for "ditching"

How close do I have to be for a ditching plane to not get a ditch?

Also.....I mentioned disco'ing and wondered if anybody has checked whether disco'ing/reconnect changes anything.

If a plane get's a 'ditch' or not is solely depending on the ownership of the base closest to it, no matter the actual distance to it. There is no other factor involved.

You can even get a "you have been captured" when only a mile away from your own runway... if at the same time an enemy CV is only a 3/4 mile away from you.

I don't know about HiTech over-modeling the Jeep, but I have been getting a little excessive with the SolidWorks, lately.

But I am under no disillusions of my wish ever being fulfilled.

It would be nice to have an indicator for GVers that told them if they'd be able to get a landing or not.  Just a yes/no indication, not something telling them how far away the nearest enemy was.

+10 on this.
