so does that mean every apprentice carpenter in australia makes 31k?

A first year carpenter at the end of his first year must be paid that. check the link.

If your over the age of 21 then your min wage in Aus should be, $15.96 per hour or $606.40 per week. works out to over 30,000 a year if you work full time (38 hours).

Or...

For junior employees, the minimum rates are:

Under 16 years of age  $5.87
At 16 years of age   $7.55
At 17 years of age   $9.22
At 18 years of age   $10.90
At 19 years of age   $13.17
At 20 years of age   $15.59.

So yes you can earn less then 30k in Aus but you are on part time or casual and/or under the age of 21.

Long story short i'm trying to find a decent paying job around $600 $700 weekly to cover household bills we can't pay. Already working at Dunkies....

At 7.25 Federal minimum wage (U.S.) working 40 hours a week, you'll probably be good if all you're paying is the bill.

Get a job at Bedford airport working line service. Be early, be helpful and work hard. You'll get a base salary and split tips with your crew at the end of a shift and tips there will be. Wash or clean airplanes, fuel airplanes, load and unload baggage to/from airplanes to cars, etc.

Signature or Jet Aviation are the FBOs there. They're usually hiring.

Just don't be a slacker.

Have you been to the IBEW local?  I couldn't find their pay scale for maryland but I found a rate chart for rural illinois.

I'm 22 turning 23 in september. Long term ideas are out of the question as i need to start making cash by summer. Short term ideas so far i've been reading are great suggestions. I need to stay in the area as my dad relies on me (Alaska.... no. Just.. no. :lol )

I think i've sprouted a little confusion also. I need a way for income to settle $600-$700 for the short term.

I've never thought of sales so it's something worth looking into.
Any ideas on this?

I've been suggesting debt consolidation to my dad. Might work who knows.

Government work... I've been wondering how to even get into this :aok                     USAJOBS.com postings of majority of Government openings.

Check to see when next Postal Exam is in your area. Check local P.O's, many hire casuals.

Unfortunately if you are scrambling it is too late.  Trust me I've been at the top and I have lost it all.  IF that does happen....pick up the pieces and use the fire created from your losses to motivate you to never allow yourself to be put in this position again.  It has been two years of my family living in near squalor for me to get to a point where I can again start a company that will fill a very big void.  You can find a job any where.....or you can find a market that will allow you to fill a need.  One of the biggest deficits in our country as a whole is in the ammo business which I am getting into now on a high end level.  However there is a local business in town that is very lucrative.  They are 3 college kids that get out to the ranges every week and pick up brass off the ground.  Mondays are best. They then clean it and resell it to all the people that went out and bought all those reloading machines that are no longer available because everyone and there brother wants to reload now.  Only problem...?....there are no components for sale!   Find the components and sell them.  700.00 a week?  Try 2-3000.00 if you can find enough.  If the range already has and agreement for the brass....offer to take the lead scrap.  Smelt it down and sell the refined lead to re-loaders or invest a few dollars and make bullets.  It can be done...trust me

Here is an excerpt from a letter from a "big boy" in the game as proof....

"Now, our way of life is being challenged like never before and our Customers are responding with a flood of orders. In the 35 years I've been in business, I've never seen anything like this."

I'm 1000% positive that others here have received this very letter or something close to it from many other companies.  If you do decide to do this PM me when you have items available...I want everything that you can find.

Are there Indian casinos in your area?

You can easily make that kind of money and more as a table games dealer, and if you are a young single guy, it's a hell of a job.

I got lucky when they legalized blackjack in my state and there was a mad rush to get dealers and they offered free training classes, but I don't know if you could break into the industry in the time frame you are looking at.

Wouldn't any job pay 30k a year or are US wages really low?

The spread between untrained/unskilled wages (McDs, grocery bagger, walmart greeter) and trained/schooled/government (utility, professionals, county clerks/reporters) at starting level, conservatively (real low-ball), at least triple (and five-fold wouldn't be unheard of, especially if counting perks like health/transportation/pension).

And then there's the real kicker which is location, location, location.  30k a year living in.... Idaho or Kansas, I'd probably be living comfy with a house and truck.  But when I last looked a decade ago for Southern California, "polls" were saying to live comfortably in this area you had to make $75k or ~$150k if a couple and persuing the ol' American Dream.....

Look at AH itself.  HTCs ultimately ended up in Texas for some reason, besides just friendlier business practices/taxes.

I offered my personal reference to get you a job that would net you $20k in 4months with zero expenses. That's really not very long, even if you laughed off going to AK. I leave for 7months of commercial salmon fishing early Wed. morning. If you change your mind you can still send me a pm here on the forums, but I may not get it for a while. Good luck.

I've been there brother, and it's fueled me to take and create opportunities I never thought of before. Within 5 years I'll not only have what I lost, but have a much stronger foundation to work from. Good luck with your business!

Join the military....use your VA loan buy your dads house....after 20+ years you get paid for life to boot!!

List your father as a beneficiary For your SGLI so in the event of your death he would be able to still pay his house off.....

and then there's health care .. certified nurse assistant at a long term care facility to start.

It's hard, physical work, 8hrs a day, pays fairly well, and places you apply will train you on the job.
You must have a work ethic .. slackers need not apply.
Most start the day they walk in.
And you get to wear pajamas all day :)

If you like the work, most places will pay to send you to school .. LPN - RN - and upward.
It can be a very rewarding career.
You can work your way into Nurse Anesthesiologist (*cough* ..70 dollars an hour to *start*, right out of school)

You just gotta wanna.

I spent 2yrs in school to become an LPN, started at a VA long term care facility right after I got my license at 15/hr.
I could have just gone in and applied as a CNA and worked up from there but I did not know that.
