You're welcome!  :devil :t

No problem. Was fun and made for a change of pace and folks here seemed to get a kick out of it.

I started with the 190A8...I have flown most things now but spent a lot of time with P38 and 109s....and I have now ended it all with the 190A8.

I started with the P38...still up it most of the time but I tend to fly 234 as often as possible in the MA.

The first plane I really spent time with and tried to learn was the 109F in early war. I started with the F, becouse the fighter pilot motto was speed was life, and it had the most in early war.  Flew this for a year or two and it taught me many great things, throttle control, E-management, and most importantly patience.  As most planes in early war could out turn it and the F didn't have great firepower to kill on snapshots readily, I had to pick my proper timings, keep my E up to keep me out of trouble from the better turning aircraft,  and fly for a good tracking shot.  So the 109F is the bird that really made me the pilot I am today.  I went from this to the 109G2 in Midwar, which is another favorite airframe of mine, which basically flies as a more powerfull slightly heavier F.  Not long after this I discovered the F4U-1.  With the E-management skills I learned from the 109's, I was able to make up for the Hogs inability to regain E quickly, by hanging on to what it had.  Combined with the F4U's 6 .50's hitting power (which the early 109's lacked) and it's ability to get into a fight with a large amount of E built up, made it a wonderfull all around aircraft.  The 1A took the -1 a step further in performance and became my ride of choice and what I primarily taught for the last 4 years or so.  I have to give an honorable mention to the A20 as it also played a large part in my early aces high career.  Being a good fighter pilot with an A20, is an extreme example of E management skill.  If you want to forced to learn E-management, dog fight with A20's.

I started on the P-51, the noob I was at the time told me that it would be a breeze to get kills in... the guys in the MA tout me otherwise. I was eventually told to fly spits since they were more forgiving. I ended up flying the spit 8 for 2 or 3 years. I then started looking around for a more *ahem* respectable plane to fly, and ended up falling in love with the P-47 series.

My suggestion for the noobs is to fly the spits to learn the ACMs you need to survive (without raming, hoing, or running), and then move to a more challenging plane. The ACMs usually stay the same (sometimes some new ones become available), but the skill to put them into practice is dramatically different.

First one was the Spit V, since it was one of the planes that helped win the war. It was fine, but I didn't like some of the stall characteristics in it. So I spent quite a bit of time in the TA learning other planes and eventually discovered the 109G2 was the best balance of what I wanted. Right now, 109F's and the G2 are my main fighter rides with the 110's for bomber interceptors and Hurricane II's for attack role. As far as bombers, that changes. I used B24's to strat bomb when I was bored, but now I use B26's in MW and Bostons in EW for perk farming. Funny enough, until I got a new computer I couldn't use B17's or even be near one, because my computer would lag so bad I would someone's free kill.
