Your audience will give you their language...Think you're up to the challenge is my age demographic...but the kids are all about pwnage.   You need to get JOAchim, Lazer, Bluberry, etc....the 20 something's and younger.

Write it up and send it to them to convert it to verbiage their demographic will respond to.   I'm betting on JOACHIM and Dolby (you'll need him for the UK) folks.

Youtube is a vogue medium and you can take pop culture liberties there.  These kids need to know they are going to spend 6 months getting the pizz kicked out of them and that will get their attention...why?  Because they're the xbox generation.  This ain't xbox...you can't buy your way out of a furball.

See, guys like me, Fugi, AK...and older, we don't care because we are connected to WWII through family members...kids today can't even remember the Vietnam War or Bosnia much less WWII so you have to attack that audience differently.

what would appeal to me is high speed, quick, snappy, film clipes with a climatic theme song to pull the intensity out of the game. People wanna play a game that will make them think quickly and effectively while having fun!

If I were to make an ad it would show every dynamic of the game. Tanking, fighting, bombing, FSO, Gunship, 88mm etc...

This is a good idea of what a good ad would start as would be what mr niros made

Well this has been an ordeal.

I am not going to be harsh because that probably took a lot of time to do. That being said, there could have been more explosions.

My thing was I was asked about helping make an ad as well, so why did they waste time on this when just asking would have been enough? Could have put it together as a contest instead of either building a turd or tricking folks.

Ahem.. Start with a nice view of my F6f=5 hellcat and my wingmans hellcat triumphantly roaring down the lush coastline.. closing with an alt and energy advatange over a seemingly low and slow ki-43 on the deck... cut to about a 5 seconds later of my hellcat burning in flames and plumes of smoke hurtling down to the terrain below.. and me desperately trying to bail out of the cockpit but my arm has been for all intents and purposes shot off by the ki-43's two machinguns... so I am pretty much going to die now in this piece of sh**  because my wingman has decided to grab some alt instead and therefore was a non-factor in my being mauled by a dead in the water ki-43 and so it was completely his fault.  And there you go that is Aces High in a nutshell.

I don't know maybe they thought they could do it better themselves. Or maybe they underestimated the difficulty of making a good film. Or some legal issue with a player making an advertisement.

I think a contest would have been cool, it would have forced to me to fly again and make another film.

Anyhow I honestly didn't think it was that bad.

I agree with all of Ryno's points. After watching the video, I had no desire to log in to AH and play the game. If it cannot get an existing player to log in and play, then I seriously doubt it will attract new players.

Yup, as a kid I guess it's ok to punish everyone because of one, a few, or a glitch.

I think it's time to grow up little man.

OK, dagnabbit.  Based on the feebback so far, I'll start by throwing my hat in the ring.

If folks (especially HTC) like what I wrote above, I'll can go ahead, write a script and try making a quick voice-over using this material.  I'm going to be in the studio doing some recording this week and next week anyway.  I'm not voice-over talent, but it will be done on a professional recording microphone and edited in ProTools recording software, so I can manipulate it and add effects as needed.

I'll do it for no charge, except maybe "WTG" and a scotch if I'm ever in their neck of the woods in TX.  No obligation to use it, either.

If I do this, and make a 30 or 60 second voice over, will Dolby (or one of our other film guru's) take a stab at setting it to game/combat footage?

I got it...........   :rofl

The entire staff must be busting a gut and slapping high fives over the up roar and chatter.  The whole thing was a put on.  No ad to be posted tomorrow.  It does however sound as if some of the "game is dying threads" of late have been noticed.  This might come to the surprise of someone at HTC sipping top shelf scotch and counting their monthly receipts.  In the immortal words of Samuel Clemmons, "The news of my demise has been greatly exaggerated."

The give away, was the mock discussion about 60 seconds to do an ad, splash screens that even Evelyn Wood couldn't have read that fast, and the the film account of maybe 30 or 40 players in just one single screen width.

Why would they need to advertise?  :lol

I wish to answer my own question -- It has been noticed by off hours players and myself that numbers do thin out, which changes the gameplay quite a bit.  I do wish for more success in marketing to other time zones.  My Aussie buds, for example, seemed to be logging in around the same time as me (off hours - due to night shift eastern US).   That is just one example, maybe to complete the satire, the ad should be badly over dubbed in Spanish, German, Japanese and Chinese.
