About death rates:

Yeah, I've been afraid of that.  Given the lag and looking at the infected we know about, not even counting the more there we don't because our country can't test it's way out of a wet paper bag apparently (unless you are rich or a politician); I'm afraid the shoe has already dropped, it's just still in mid-air and hasn't hit the floor yet.  The pain is coming and already baked-in because we flubbed the first month so badly.

5% CFR would be cataclysmic.  :O

But hey, lets drop the quarantines and pack those churches, malls, and restaurants come Easter!

Toxic, psychotic, self-aggrandizing drama queens simply aren't worth me spending my time on.

Even with the restrictions in place, cases in the US have more than doubled in last 3 days.  I was hoping we’d see the curve flatten at least a little but no evidence of that yet.
Realistic hope for the curve to flatten would be about 2 weeks after panic buying has stopped IMHO.

Yes 27 actual known real people. Out of almost 5 million actual real people.

200,000 may have heart problems...... but that is not important. Let's concentrate on those 27.
Having a coronavirus infection makes things a lot harder for those who might have heart problems and other health problems within the risk group, so it can have an influence on all people with other diseases. Someone with a heart problem will probably not pose a threat to someone else who has an asthma for example.

I wonder if Coronavirus can stay on surfaces for days and people cough and sneeze with droplets landing on the ground etc, spit on the ground, dust their homes... Then would it be possible to get the infection by having dust particles flying into one`s eye during strong wind or breathing in airborne dust in higly populated and infected areas. Maybe a bit too far-fetched.

I think I might have it. I've been ill for a week. I thought it was flu. Today I went to buy 800 3M N100 (FFP3) face masks. Some dude sold them for 1€ per piece, best before date 2013... Had a lot of dry cough in the morning. Had to really contrate not to cough while buying the masks. About 5 hours ago I noticed some muscle pain and it has been getting worse, and I feel pretty weak. If it's COVID-19, then it's hopefully a really mild case.

Fox News’ Brit Hume: It’s ‘Entirely Reasonable’ the Elderly Would Want to Die to Save Economy

Really, take one for the team. Yeah that's the ticket.
They've already touted that elderly won't get tests or any ICU space, so now maybe they need to  take one for the team.

Sorry 'A-holes', the 'team' had their chance in '68 and blew it when I survived the explosion and shrapnel that shredded 25% of one leg and half a chest wall.  Not giving the 'team' another go without a fight.

What an idiotic 'Logans Run' comment to make.

You are missing the point by looking at outcomes only and not causes. Things like heart disease are mostly self-inflicted by choices people keep making over long periods of time. That's very different from an infectious disease that spreads from people without symptoms and that nobody has immunity to because it's a new virus.

What you need to do to prevent heart disease is already known and you've heard about it for years. It's not an emergency that's likely to overwhelm our healthcare system.

The reason only 800 are dead so far in the US is because we are at the beginning of this epidemic. The rapid response may be enough to mitigate it despite so many people not taking it seriously.  In another week it should be clear to everybody that this is a serious problem.

If you don't wash you hands and practice sanitary habits..... many things can be considered "self inflicted".

Cancer, flu, colds, heat.... lots of things make it harder for folks with heart problems. No disagreement there.

I am not saying Corona is good or ignore it. I am saying do not quit life because of it.

Call your Doctor.  Don't wait. Wear your mask.

It doesn't work like that in the socialist medicine. No one will be interested if I call the city health line. Private practices are full. Anyway, I have already self isolated myself apart from that mask buying trip. The masks are for family, colleagues and friends. Can't make myself to sell them for profit. They are in plastic bags inside cardboard boxes. No telling now if the boxes are contaminated. I did cough while unloading them.
