Then the players would have to be treated like children and have the game force even sides...

Of the 20 maps we have left, all of them are the same size except BowlMA. So its not the "size" of the map your complaining about, but more likely the layout. From what I understand the guys who build these things try to funnel fights on each front. Youd have to ask Kong and Kenai, but that is what I think they try to do, create fights.

I agree that some of these maps have way to many bases. Take "CraterMA" At present the coast is about 85 miles from the center of the map. If the red section with its bases was removed (25-30 miles) it would tighten up the fronts and make for more fights because it wasnt so spread out.

Yeah Im not really referring to the overall amount of squares. Im referring to the main area of playability within the maps. For example the craterMA you pictured has a a huge landmass of playable areas but there's no real "path" that sets players on a mission, so normally you see small dars with players scattered around and no real battles happening. This map isnt suitable for off hours and doesnt build up players during off hours. If one side of the map is fighting, the other side cannot access the fight either.  Regardless, it's not necessarily ancedotal. Its more about how do teams during off hours play the map, and does it provide enough action for the fighter dweebs like myself to partake in it. Its not the bomber pilots or the jabo pilots, or even tank guys that arent filling up the #s. Its the fighter guys who want more guys to shoot who log in, dont see a big fight or enough action, and then just log and find something else for 30 min or an hour and check back in when the #s have grown to see if the fight has built up in a certain area.

But then you chase away the "side loyal" players, the squad loyal players. Next all you have left is 12 guys chasing each other up and down the front

They will be the last twelve A2A only ever players. They will have everything they wanted! Tiny maps, short trips, no dynamic outcomes, and nobody to play with.

Guy.....

Last night I watched you HO everything in sight, just to avoid a fight with a guy you previously engaged earlier and ran like the wind.. (me).

If you think people are here to pay 15 dollars a month to play your style of play., on a dated graphics platform.... you are high..

The only thing that could save this game is the ability of the open arena concept and endless possibilities for huge furballs...

But the people left here choose to play like group of toolsacks.

I never shoot first so if it’s a HO from me I’m not Greedo. If huge furballs could save the game it would have already happened.

Some maps are more popular than others, according to many of the people who post on these message boards. Some say they log off when they see a map they dislike. It would be interesting to plot daily player numbers over, say, the last six months based on which maps are up to measure how true this is. Is that even doable? I'm not sure. There would be a lot of variables (time of day, how many hours or days the map stays up, day of the week, etc). Maybe our resident statistician can weigh in?

Word has it that Mindanao and Buzzsaw have been taken out of rotation. Were there really significantly fewer players on when they were up? I didn't get that impression, but I don't always fly in my evenings, so if it happened, maybe that's when?

I hated buzzsaw... remember when the alt of that map was about 10k?

I really liked them both, and never lacked the opportunity to do something interesting on either.

I agree.

The loudest complainers want change forced upon all to suit their unwillingness to adapt to having to do something other than the endless furball.

Yall don't get it. The best battles are when all types of players partake in one area. That includes an attack team and a defending team. This creates a natural furball which is fun for most players. It sort of sounds like you just want to be able to bomb, shoot buildings in tanks, and jabo, with your teammates  with no opposition at all. Which is not fun for all players and why it's the hoarders who are truely hurting the game, not the fighters. AH unfortunately is running off most fighters because they dont have enough defenders to help against the 5 on 1 gang in any plane other than a Tempest to be able to escape the desperate hoard.

Western side of the map was always put in a disadvantage as they would be essentially cut off. Factories on the Western front were also most likely to get pummeled
