Yall don't get it. The best battles are when all types of players partake in one area. That includes an attack team and a defending team. This creates a natural furball which is fun for most players. It sort of sounds like you just want to be able to bomb, shoot buildings in tanks, and jabo, with your teammates with no opposition at all. Which is not fun for all players and why it's the hoarders who are truely hurting the game, not the fighters. AH unfortunately is running off most fighters because they dont have enough defenders to help against the 5 on 1 gang in any plane other than a Tempest to be able to escape the desperate hoard.
I agree the best fights are when all types of players partake in one area. I dont think its the "horde" that is running off the players so much as the "type" of fighters that is running off most fighters.
In the "old days" you had fighters that just love to fight. They would rarely be over 5k and would take on all comers. Today we have 20K temps, ponies, D9s, and jugs diving in and running away.
In the "old days" you you had those 5k fighters hunting goons and M3 as much as fighting the attackers. Today you can fly your goon at 5K and not worry about them getting you as they dont come that low in their pick and run machines.
In the "old days" you the attacking force would come in and make their jabo runs and then engage the fighters to try and clear them out. Today most are getting picked before they get close.
In the "old days" you would see only the attacking force using an M3 or two, today you have more M3s running supps to town than you do have defending it in planes.
We just dont have "fighters" any more. Dying hurts to much so everyone avoids it. Picking and running is the premier way to play, heck we have at least one squad dedicated to this style of play.
