My guess is that right about now things are pretty tight financially at HTC...or at least there is a large unknown factor of what the new player base will be capable of returning in the way of revenue. While it's true that adding Mac players to their player base would increase their revenue, the money they would have to lay-out at this point in time to develop AH for the Mac would thin their resources, and only make their whole venture more risky.

What's the solution...? Add programming for the Mac at a later date when they are on more solid ground financially...Or is there a possibilty that there is enough talent and incentive in the Mac community to have someone, (or ones,) willing to work on a volunteer basis to port the program over to the Mac until HTC can stabilize itself.

I don't know anything about business or software, so I don't know if what I'm suggesting is something that is completely ludicrous...Just trying to help our Mac only Brothers up into the tower.

Reading this thread really cracks me up.
Macs are being "banned" by HTC???

This is NOT a conspiracy against your favorite computer guys, just a business decision by HTC.
Now go back to watching "X-Files"!

I fly with a Mac and Win98.
I prefer my Mac.

I'd REALLY prefer it if I could fly AcesHigh on Linux.

CC

Just found this board
Though our squad is currently in limbo, all except one remain on the mac.  We are looking for a cross-platform alternative to the discontinued MacAW...

I understand things may be balancing on a rope right now for HTC, but what about later?  Is AH being written in code that will be portable to the mac at a later time and made cross-platform compatible?  Unlike Kesmai, are you keeping other potential markets in mind NOW, before it's too late?

WOW!  its been a long time since I left this thread.  about a month or more.  I'm happy to see that everyone is getting along so well!  The only real solution to this problem should have been a NON issue simply by programing AH in an Open GL.   Its a mistake that will cost in the future.

I love Computers, both Mac and Pc's and I really hate to see the miopia thats happening by only programming for the PC.   The Pale Horses are about 50% mac and thats $ not in AH future.

Good luck

PC or Mac Squad or not. I think they will have enough people playing this game now that they have said its unlimited play. Its seems to obvious that Macs have problems if Kesmai is dropping them and iEN cant fix it yet. Give them a chance. Beside I wouldnt own something that fell from a tree anyway.

Bronco,

Open GL is just a GRAPHICS API. Even though AH used OGL for graphics you still have to rewrite the rest of the game engine for Mac. Just like you "Mac guys" to try and oversimplify things

Btw all you "Mac guys" complaining about pc:s beeing hard to configure and "downtime", this is the downside about having a configurable and open architecture as opposed to Apple. If you don't know how to configure your system or install software and hardware properly you obviously is going to have a defunct system.
I'd choose the the configurability of the PC any day over the Mac's idiot proof OS where you are limited to what the programmers allows you to do. But that's just my opinion. If you don't like "getting under the hood" of you machine and getting you fingers dirty I guess the Mac is an alternative if you can afford it and stand the lack of software.

I think the comparison with cars is quite good:
Mac: Japanese sports car, expensive and new design, no problems to get to run, just turn the key. Great around some bends but a bit boring to drive in the long run. Looks the same as any other car and not a lot of accessories.
PC: Muscle car, cheap to buy and old design but a lot of power. Requires a bit of skill to get to run properly but a lot more rewarding when it does. Lot's of accessories to personalize you car after you needs.

Geeze mookie it's a tag line I use it every where, it has nothing to do with this particular thread or the people that are keeping this thread alive.

Now with that said do you know what toon characters use the words 'idigit' and 'mook',
then figure out the character in the tag line  also.
