Hi ROC, thanks for coming forward to shed light on this whole mess.

I'm all for it if HTC is. Not that my vote counts nor does HTC operate that way   It would be nice to see more people who WANT to fly AH.

I also liked Moon Dog's idea in his topic where he though a pay per event scheme would be attractive. I think that's a great idea too.

FWIW, many of the members in the squad I am in felt positive about this possible bargain to these two notable squads when it was brought up on our email list.

And it has seen support here too from in the AH community - once you cut thru the 'issue' of who the poster was and the inter-rival bickering.

 I hope it works out. <S> !

Moon Dog was a Nomad too wasn't he?

It makes damn good business sense to negotiate a group discount.  This happens all the time in other sectors of the business world, why not here?
Of course, since this is not a market test, I'd limit it to a term (say a year, or half year, whatever), both for the bargaining group and HTC.  In such a fashion, both sides can opt out later.

If I decided to go to AH, I'd pay HiTech his going rate. He deserves the respect assuming he's charging fairly for his product.

I certainly wouldn't bargain with him in secret, and seek to exclude those community members who preceded me there. How fair is that to him or them? Do you expect him to keep group rates secret from them? If so, what does that say about your opinion of his ethics?

Shame on those of you contemplating this. If you think AH is a better product for you, have some class and sign up like everyone else. Those who went there before you, paid the toll, and worked to develop what community they have deserve better than this.

I'd rather this soap opera than one run being produced by H.S. any day. Here it's the community with a problem. There, it's the developer himself.

Wiggling the bait to attract more guppies gullible enough to bite KM?

This is an interesting approach, ROC, but I can also see how it could alienate current players/squads.  The Assassins, the 308th, MOL, and other squads all have plenty of members (and I know that the 308th has drawn in other members from its sister squads in WB), all of whom have paid full price for quite some time.  It might be said that their contribution to the growth and success of AH would be just as important as yours, yet they do so at a higher premium.

Not to say that negotiating a group rate isn't a great idea; I'm happy to see a bunch of AW folks making the jump over to AH.  It could create a slippery slope for HTC, however, as collections of existing AH players band together to renegotiate their own monthly payments.  Pretty soon other collections of squads from WB/AW could decide not to make a move to AH unless they, too, receive a discounted rate.

Yet if HTC long ago determined that $30/month was necessary to cover development costs and operating expenses, how could they stay solvent at $15 or $20/month?

Just some thoughts.

Oh, and Culero... you're really living up to your namesake.  Ass.

BRAT, I was there. I know what happened and Animl is correct. Unless you want to get highly involved in the discussion of what kind of bellybutton you made of yourself then I would imagine you will not say anything else about what happened while you were a staff member with AW.

By the way, hi folks.

Interesting...highly misinformed...I give it a 2.

No need to bring up any of your past performances here Animal (the people who you threatened in emails are actually members of this community)...you're doing a fine job of making a total bellybutton of yourself without my help.

Even though all your comments about me are complete and total fabrications...I don't really think the AH community is interested in hearing the truth...so I'll spare them and get this conversation back on track.

Kelly came in here and posted a private email with his concerns about price breaks for Airwarrior...and this was all done from a paying job at EA.

Kind of sums it all up huh?

bye

I know Kelly Myers, but I've never heard of someone named K Meyers.

I also think Kelly's grammar is a bit better than the KM poster, and we all know that he is incapable of posting a message as short as KM post #3.

Something stinks here.

Grizzly, I think you may have a point there. It certainly doesn`t sound like the Kelly I know either, now that you mention it.

Oh and nice to see you Mr. HTML <G> How how have you been doing ol` grizzlied one?

If EA does in fact have 200k players on UO, then the money isn't a problem as much. The problem is is HOW they use it. IF EA sticks to their plan of attack AW is in fact doomed, unless the AW4 coding does what they say it will do.

What you say makes no business sense at all. Basically, a company can say... (Simplified)

"We need 100 employees and $1000 in equipment to support all our products. Product A and B make money, but the amount of money we spend to support product C exceeds its revenue. 20 of my employees and $200 of my equipment support product C.

So, if I dump product C, I can also trim expenses by 20 employees and $200 in equipment, plus get additional profit as I won't need to have revenue from products A and B support C any longer."

More simply put, if a product does not make engough revenue to support ALL employees, ALL required equipment AND turn a profit, it WILL NOT last.

If EA is relying on other games to support AW, it will be canned. In this economy, I don't see companies supporting any charity cases. Too bad.

This SO smells like a friggin' set up.

That's what sucks about UBB.  You can pick any friggin' screen name you want to post as much drivel as you want, then recycle the name for something else.  In this case, it appears someone is impersonating an EA employee to further smear AW.  Be it an AH player or KBear, whomever it is (if it is not culero) is a fargin' icehole.

I call total roadkill.

Greetings folks, I'm another of those old AW players that's stumblin in here. Lota ya'll know me. I worked with/for the real Kelly Meyers for a bit as volunteer staff. I got canned with th rest of th volunteer staff along with some paid legends like Moggy and GE.
I'm pissed at EA but it wasn't Kelly's doin.
I don't think th post that started all this was Kelly either.

Kelly do what you need to do .. If this brings down the rate for the whole AH community then its a good thing.. This is America buddy.. Bargaining for a lower price goes on all the damn time. Have you ever bought a car? Did you pay the asking price or get a lower price? I assume you got a lower price. Did you tell future customers of your good deal? Did you stand on the lot warning the next customer that you got a great deal? I doubt it.. Sounds like alot of hypocrisy.
After all the BS that has gone on from you and other EA reps this wreaks of a double standard......When was the last time you paid to play AW? So who the hell are you to say what kind of a deal a large group tries to get to play a game? Now Im sure that you love a good flame war ..I dont . Ive said it all.....
