Who cares if cheating ruins the fun for most of the players. Like I said in my post before, you spin it the way you want because again by your own admissions in previous posts, you were one of the 'Lemmings'. So if you have to cheat in a game, that's pretty much your problem I guess and rather sad in my opinion.
And as for trying to compare this to 'spawn camping', sheesh, talk about trying to pull gold out of your ass. While spawn camping might be a little on the gamey side of things, it is in no way comparable to someone abusing a known bug to gain an advantage (i.e. cheating) and pretty much just shows that you really don't have a leg to stand on.
Anyway, the bug has been fixed but as maxtor pointed out on his post, the map can be reset easier than some reputations. I used to consider you one of the better peoples in the game but now I consider you no better than anyone else that cheats.
Ack-Ack
You fail to understand my point. I’ll try again.
Back in 1978 I was working as a part-time race engineer (I was a minor player in the organization) for a Formula B team fielding March 78B cars powered by Cosworth BDA engines. The team owner and driver was competing for the National title. We looked at many different ways to circumvent the rules, without actually violating them. After all, we had to pass pre-race tech inspection and those guys miss nothing.
We found that the rule governing rear wings allowed creative thinking plenty of latitude. Therefore, we fabricated one of the first bi-plane wings used in this level of motorsports. This allowed us to nearly double downforce without infringing on maximum size of the individual airfoil, or restrictions on height. We also used endplates that were separated by less than .100 inches, effectively channeling air rearward. Combined with fixed Lexan side skirts and a hand laid up fiberglass diffuser, our cars generated up to 40% more downforce than the competition. Yet, the car met the letter of the rules, if not the spirit. Naturally we had to go to much higher rate springs but lucked out with damper settings.
We went to Roebling Roads raceway outside Savannah, where the car qualified on the pole and set a course record for the class. The howls of the competition were deafening. Tech people were badgered without relief. Nonetheless, the car was LEGAL. Come race day, our driver lapped all but two of the entire field, but with just 4 laps remaining the BDA dropped a valve, ending our day.
Three weeks later the sanctioning body issued amended rules, essentially legislating our cars out of existence. We had to return to a single airfoil, eliminate the side skirts and shorten the diffuser.
We lost 95% of our advantage. We obeyed the rules, and looked at the engine, where we found some HP by changing cam timing and overlap. Eventually, we made it to the championship race, and finished 5th.
We always passed tech inspection, and we even suffered through several engine teardowns to satisfy the inspectors. Those were expensive for the protesting team, as they had to foot he bill if nothing was found to be in violation. Nothing was.
Guys who took advantage of the bug did not violate any rules. Sure, it was unsportsman of them to varying degrees. Yes, it was an unfortunate situation. However, it was not “cheating”.
Furthermore, look up the meaning of "cheat", as it requires the existance of fraud and deception. Everyone understood what was happening... All you had to do was avoid the situation and you were unaffected.
Finally, show me where I admitted to have “abused the bug to gain an advantage”.
My regards,
Widewing
