If it's gas or charcoal, officianados will always say charcoal. But, that's only becaue they don't know how to get great tastig BBQ out of a gas cooker. Gas is much cheaper and much faster and much less hassle. Hence, you use your BBQ more.
Do you have Natural Gas or are you thinking tanks.
I converted mine to natural gas and use house gas supply. We use it ALL the time, no matter the weather. Just click it to light it up and in five minutes your are cooking. Plus we never need to worry about changing tanks or running out of fuel.
For that charred flavoring, you can buy mesquite or hickory chips at a grocery store and smoke them on the gas briquettes.
