Id go for charcoal cause u will propably have to travel further 4 the bottle every time, where as u can go to ure local petrol station and supermarket 4 lighter fluid and charcoal.

The only good thing i see bout gas is the heat is constant all the time its on and lasts the amount of time the bottle does. where charcoal has a limit.

You've never seen me cook with a charcoal grill :D

Seriously though charcoal is the way to go.  You get a much better flavor with charcoal than gas.  Trick is to put some wet mesquit on it too. OH MAN!  what a flavor that stuff gives beef or chicken.  But since your from freedom er... france I guess you don't have mesquit.  ahhhh another reason why it sucks in france :D

If it's gas or charcoal, officianados will always say charcoal.  But, that's only becaue they don't know how to get great tastig BBQ out of a gas cooker.  Gas is much cheaper and much faster and much less hassle.  Hence, you use your BBQ more.

Do you have Natural Gas or are you thinking tanks.
I converted mine to natural gas and use house gas supply.  We use it ALL the time, no matter the weather.   Just click it to light it up and in five minutes your are cooking.  Plus we never need to worry about changing tanks or running out of fuel.

For that charred flavoring, you can buy mesquite or hickory chips at a grocery store and smoke them on the gas briquettes.
Yummmmmmmm!

Once you go gas, you never go back!
:D :D :D

My father has one of those Gas/Charcoal jobs.

It's pretty nice actually, as it give you the best of both worlds.

You use the gas to light the coals, and once ignited, just shut off the gas, and get that great Charcoal flavor.

You don't use much gas, and it saves all the effort of getting an even burn on all the coals.

Straffo...do you live in an apartment, above the first floor?

I only ask because you will find that emptying a charcoal grill can be a messy job...and you need to do it almost everytime you cook.  Carting the ashes to the garbage disposal will inevitably result in a mess every so often.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

Is wood from a tree which, IIRC grows only in the southwest US and in Mexico.  It may grow else where but I don't know about it.  It give all food cooked with it a distnctive tanginess, isn't smokey like hickory.  Personally, I never cook without it!

Anyone know the carcinogen levels from cooking with charcoal?  I don't, but I've heard they're higher than gas.

Pulled an old beat up hot tub off the back patio of my new house. This left a very cool thing , a gas spigot and an electrical box. I'm thinking permanent brick BBQ with natural gas.

:)

In America ( or maybe just in my family) it is a tradition that after a BBQ with charcoal, everyone would grab some asbestos gloves, a handfull of hot coals, and chase each other around the backyard tossing hot coals at one another.

Grandmaw was always my favorite target...... she was so funny, I don't even think she really knew to run if she could.
