To a degree you are correct Udie...but lazs knew he was pushing gun control buttons when he posted that "valid comment".

...and Dowding's response was totally valid in my opinion.  Whenever anyone has said ANYTHING about gun control in the US and they are not American he claims that person is obsessing about America and that it is none of their business.

He got a small taste of his own medicine and I congratulate Dowding on pointing it out to him.

Now I'm done.

Oh come on curval... it was legit ...  both as on topic (snake medicine) and as a dig at any country that would allow it's women to control em.

The aussie gun thing is still current events..   they have a history that they are proud of that is about rugged individualism and being able to take care of themselves.   then they  shreeeek like schoolgirls and overreact like liberals and when some nut cuts loose in a crowd.

granted... I figured dowding would have a hissy fit but... hell... he is british and doesn't have a clue about guns.   He is also one of the few brits dumb enough to jump in on subjects he knows nothing about, so is fun to get a rise out of...

I really wanted to hear from the aussies tho.

shot loads work great on snakes.

Oh... anyone else here feel that dowding isn't a real person but just some character in an Ayn Rand novel?

lazs...just take your medicine like a good chap and stop this attempt at justification.

I must say though, when Hillary Clinton is back in the White House, but this time as President, I'm gonna remember your comment about women controlling them.:p

I ****ing hate spiders.

Imagine my shock when I flipped over an older radiator brace in my dad’s yard when I was cleaning it out, and there 3 inches from my not gloved hand was a black widow.

I am not ashamed to admit I shrieked like a girl.

I did confirm it was a widow before I killed it with carb cleaner. Same yard had paper wasp nest EVERYWHERE!

Even on the ladder my dad used in his house.

Birchwood casey gun cleaner kills them as good as bug spray!

:D

hehe yesterday I had to go out into the field to mark some boring locations for the project I'm working on.  I had a hammer in my left hand and the marking stake in my right hand.  I was looking for a safe place to jump the fence when I dropped the stake next to a little tree, really more of a bush.  So I casually kneeled over and picked it up. When I stood up there was a freaking yellow/black spider that was HUGE. I mean the body was like 3" long then add on the legs and the thing was like a 6" or 7" diameter.  There it is in all it's glory 2 INCHES FROM MY FACE!!!!

Spiders don't freak me out, unless they are on me.  OR if they happen to be BIG and 2 INCHES FROM MY FACE!!!!

Wow a thread on insects and snakes the generated into a catfight. Good one!  Checking back twas Mietla what started it by including liberals. Several people here are obsessed with politics and lberals and bring it up at every opportunity, eh Grunherz, Mietla etc? I hope you talk about other stuff in real life. It's funny stuff really!

Well back to the point, here in olde Irelande, we have bees and wasps but never had snakes or scorpions or other poisonous creepy crawlies.
The ants are just annoying but in the spirit of the debate we have Trotskyite politicians one of whom has just been locked up for a month for disobeying a court order. That should ensure his re-election. LOL

Oh we do have Horse flies the blood sucking barstewards and painful with it.  Just like some government politicians. You know it is easy to drift into political debate. :rofl

Lazs for PM of Aus!!  I'd vote for ya :)

Before we went all soft and girly and handed in our weapons, I used to have an old .410 shotgun specifically for dealing with snakes in the yard....think you'll find most every non-urban house did, or something similar.
Mild recoil ,small size and a good spread of shot at 15 yards made it ideal for a snake gun.
Handguns were a bit of a rarity even before the Great Oestregen Surge that overcame our government and disarmed my fellow Aussies, so small shotguns usually filled the anti-snake role.

BTW, I'm not sure on this, but I think all our snakes, deadly or not, are protected fauna, ie, it's illegal to kill them.
but if you have a 6ft King Brown on your patio, I guess the law doesnt count for much.
