At least the 3090 often has more stable Frame times due to the larger VRAM + Min Fps increase far more then the usual average frame times (over the 3080)
Not worth the money if you are a gamer but may well be interesting for productivity tasks

Not soon, well into 2021 as the larger 2GiB GDDR6X-chips are not available yet (even if they would be reserved for Quadros first). Nvidia may use the expensive 3090 PCB with memory chips on both sides but that would also require modifications of the backplate for additional cooling.

Now I'm glad I didn't get one on the first shot .... I wonder if this effects the entire 30x0 line or if it's just the 3080.

EVGA has seemingly confirmed that issues with a certain type of capacitor are the source of an increasing number of reports of crashes associated with factory-overclocked Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards.

These capacitors were cited in a recent article by Igor's Lab as the probable source of the issues that have spawned complaints in enthusiast forums and Reddit about unexplained RTX 3080 crashes and black screens.

The card manufacturers will just  release a BIOS update that will limit the power usage, so the filtering capacitors won't see so much noise. I'll wait and see if the 3090s have any similar issues. The 3070s are going to be the best buy for most people anyway. I've already got a new system going together, but it won't be a 3080 I put in it. I don't see anyone changing their layouts with an improved filtering scheme. The BIOS approach is just cheaper.
