Some of those are for actually doing something other than just showing up for work. For example, I'm pleased that I've shot "expert" in every firearm I've been trained in (M-16, M-9, and the old .38 revolvers) and I have never shot less than "expert" in a graded shoot. I know it's only the AF course and not the more challenging navy or army courses, but on my last M9 qual I put 39/40 in the circle, missing a perfect score by about half an inch on one shot I pulled badly. All 40 still hit the paper of course, but I'm still pissed about that 'cause I know EXACTLY what happened and what I did wrong, and on every shot but that one I consciously avoided that error.
Anyone care to guess what the error was? Hint - It was during the last "over the barrier" sequence.
