People who run from a co-alt 1v1 and jump in after 6 of his buddies show up are the ones ruining the game, not 262's.

Please people, at least attempt to fight. I love the intense dogfights in this game. Even if you die embarrassingly, you will learn something new and can then use that experience you learned in the next fight. You can improve, and then you can out fight zekes and spits with P-38s and 190s. Trust me, it's a lot of fun to get into a fight against a superior plane and coming out victorious.  :D

Slight hijack but...

Years ago I read an account of a pilot flying the Me-262 that had anti-air rockets. The pilot recounts targeting a B-26, loosing a volley of these small rockets, the B-26 disappears in a ball of flame and he is chased out of the area by escorts. I do not remember the rockets but where struck they were smaller then those we carry on the Fw-190 and Me-110.

The beauty of Aces High boards is people much smarter then I can solve this great mystery. Not that I am a rabid 262 stick but if this bird had small rockets, why is Skuzzy slack'n on us?!  :D What say ye about this ubber 262 mod?

R4M rockets; they flew out in front almost like a shotgun effect. Very effective, much better than the WGr weapons the 110s carry in AH.

I would quit being a bomber pilot if the me262 ever got those.

That's them!!

Ok, now for the techno geeks amongst us. Would not the mount of these rockets disrupt airflow over the wings and either reduce lift or cause significant drag and reduce speed...does anyone know definitive answers?

Thanks in advance.

Boo

PS These wouldn't change the game too much. From what I understand they were fired as a volley, not one at a time. Most players currently do not have the skill to shoot those 30mms, they stand very little chance of shooting these rockets. And those who can shoot 30mms are going to kill your buff anyway, does it matter how they kill you?

From what I have read no it did not affect performance of the 262 greatly.

In fact most 262 bomber kills in real life took place with the use of these rockets 30mm cannon was just a back up after the inclusion of these.

I just finished a book called  The German Aces Speak bye Colin Heaton and Anne-Marie Lewis,   Krupinski talks about the  rockets and that it was a 25-30mph difference in speed vs the clean configuration on the 262.
He states they would be able to fire these rockets from outside the 50cals effective range and one sortie with Galland he took out 2 B26s on one pass.

If memory serves, a few German pilots stated they had similar flight paths to the 30mm rounds so they could use their gun sights for the rockets. Historically, these rockets didn't have a great impact because of the sheer numbers the Luftwaffe faced. It would be game changer in AH, particularly if the R4Ms were able to be carried by other aircraft, as some were given to ground attack units.

I'm not a Luftwaffe guy, apologies to all if I am incorrect.

edit: Really deadly weapon, I can't even imagine the horror of being stuck in a bomber and almost helpless against these things.

Aces High, if you are paying attention, you are killing the game with the 262's! Either price them much higher or restrict to 163 bases. No 262 ever shot down a aircraft outside of Germany! How can you allow them to fly over the water area's in the arena's? I thought this game was supposed to be based on factual combat conditions in WW2!
