vB Code is off?

So Maniac, you have my job description handy?  Sure sounds like you know far more about what I am suppose to do than me.

If moderating this board has been dropped from my job description, I wish someone would tell me.  It sure would make my job a lot more enjoyable.

SKuzzy,

Call me crazy but the other boards that I frequent have more than a few moderators.

Keep in mind this is just a friendly sudgestion, its probably been tried allready, but what about appointing a few of the more level headed daily vistiters of this board as moderators and giving them the "power" to moderate and lock threads?

Like I said just a friendly sudgestion.  I know you guys are busy and this would require some actual planning and guidlines and such but just an Idea.

I'll volunteer to be a moderator! Send me the powers ( insert evil MUUUUHHAHAHAA here) and I wouldn't abuse the powers given to me.  really... I wouldn't.

I'm Unbias:
Never got into a kerry/bush debate.
somewhat knowledgeable about automobiles.
Isn't anti-France ( I ALWAYS supersize my french fries)
I never snicker at bad comb-overs
I don't care that 4 outta 5 posters prefer going "commando" over boxers.
I never have surcomvented the language filter ( remembering my letter to HiTech)
I've never had 1 sig line , let alone over 3 lines.
I am paper trained.
Don't care if USA is refered to as "Northern Mexico".
I do own a gun, but don't own any ammo, So I'm PRO AND CON:)
I spell slightly better than HiTech, but am not as good looking as YANKEE.
I have all my hair, but will shave it bald on a bet.
I am not afraid to wear a striped tie with plaid pants.
ALL of my post were HIGHLY intelegent post, well though out, with perfect sentence structure.
I can cook, clean, and sew.
I know the difference between a salad fork and a soup spoon.

I would believe at first glance I would be a PERFECT candidate, I only have one downfall that MAY take me out of the running... I put beans in my chili:(

I cant believe there is such an uproar over this, I mean with the amount of copy and paste that goes on here this is not a big stretch.

I can't see how making the HTC BBS look broken, unprofessional, and read like hell is a clever move.  Maybe we should discuss your job Skuzzy.

fluff'ng up the BBS to make a point?  We need a new moderator with thicker skin that won't make HTC look like a CheckSix Forum moderator that got his hyman broken with some silly beheading link.

I hate the Il-2 BBS because of the sigs, and always enjoyed how HTC made a good platform for discussion, and a good BBS . But breaking the BBS on purpose?

I might not know anything about your job, but I'm guessing you could do better.

Not sure if I understand how disabling vB code stops abuse if your meaning personal abuse, as the personal insults still fly. Or is that abuse as in posting negative images, like Pacific Fighters?

Ain't this just sad?

It's bad enough people come in the OC and get out of hand, forcing Skuzzy to moderate (no doubt he's got much better things to do, but somebody HAS to do it).

But then we have some "people" who have to insult Skuzzy for having to do a job no one else REALLY wants.

I've come to believe that the main reason (maybe even the only reason) the OC even exists is to keep the garbage out of the regular forums.

You gotta figure some losers have sunk to a new low to force Skuzzy to turn off the vB code. Sheesh, what a load of crap.

Wonder who's worse, the losers that caused the vB code to be turned off, or the losers that demand their "right' to have a less moderated forum.

Hey, here's an idea: Don't like the way they moderate this forum? Leave! Start yer own, see how well it works out, and how much fun it is. Don't bother to come back and let us know.

I suppose this may get moderated, I hate to give Skuzzy something else to do, but what the HELL.

It had nothing to do with personal attacks and insults, it had everything to do with links to offensive material being posted. Disabling vB code eliminates the ability to post links. Shame it came to this. Wasn't hard to see it coming though.

Sadly, despite HTC posting REPEATEDLY about the level of decorum they wish to maintain, some people don't learn, or violate the rules intentionally. Then we have those who feel they must insult the staff for being forced to do their job. Great crowd.

Well, actually, the only thing it really helps with is inappropriate images.  Inappropriate URLs can be posted, all you have to do is c-n-p them to your address bar.  And although disabling the vbcode during the con is certainly understandable, it seems like an extreme solution to the problem in the long run.  If it needs to happen, can't image posting be disabled, or does vBulletin not have that as an option?

Well, theres your Union steward Skuzzy, Captain Kneepad- ExtraDramatic.

Still seems pretty easy to me. Ignore a bad link, ban the abuser, and don't make the BBS look like a Harry High School run BBS representing a Pro Company.

Just saying.
