Here is another one of Mann`s pieces that always, always brings a smile to my face. I had the full size of this one mounted and coated on walnut at one time. It eventualy got ripped off.
The reason it makes me smile everytime is that represents a "been there, done that" kind of thing.
In `71 me and another guy had put together a place for partying, hanging out ,etc. It was eventualy dubbed The Sin Palace by the !st Baptist Church pastor in this small town. (another long story
}
I had came in one day, parked my scoot outside beside my buds that had been sitting out front all night the night before.
I grabbed a beer and walked out in front to BS. Here came another one of our dastardly bunch running pretty hot with the local`s squad car chasing him.
He grinned, waved and hauled *** .
In a few minutes the local showed up along with a county squad car. Both was convinced I was their man.
While I was talking to the local I noticed the county deputy walk over and "feel" the heads and exhaust on my buds scoot. The local was yammering at me and got me distracted. When I again looked in the direction of county deputy he was kneeled down with his hand reaching for the cutoff drag pipes on my scoot. I yelled, but it was too late. SIZZLE!!
Both of the cops eventualy found out I was not "their man" when the other guy pulled in and told them it was him, not me.
Both apologized to me and we got some burn ointment on the county deputy`s hand. The county deputy and myself later became pretty close friends. A couple years after this the deputy, along with another deputy, were delivering a prisoner to a TDC prison facility. The prisoner waited until they had entered the main gate, reached between the cage and the seat, took my friend`s service revolver and shot him in the back of the head, killing him on the spot.
I never see this piece that I don`t think of him and times gone past.
