I have shot about a dozen dogs in my life... they all react differently..
this is farm and ranch country.. the city boys with lawn mowing services move out here and let their big dogs run free... the dogs pack up and attack livestock and.... people.
There was this group of three large dogs that had been attacking my guys and if you made it back to your truck they would hit the windows growling and snapping and chase the truck.
I got the 44 mag 4" and when they came the first one faced me and growled and the other two flanked out on each side.... like they would a mother sheep or cow.
The first round took the lead dog high on the back and I seen the round hit the dirt behind him... he spun around and kicked a bit... the other two stopped but started growling and barking... the next round cought the dog on my left (closest) in the shoulder and he spun and bit at himself before he died.. the other dog backed up 20' or so and growled then ran.. next shot missed and last shot took him somewhere in the lower body. he spun and bit at the wound then got in the brush and under a fence....
Hope he made it home to his owner..
The owner got another big dog that I took with one shot to the head about a month latter. somehow.... That 44 seemed a lot more comforting and reliable than getting a can of spocks doggy perfume.
I would like to see at least 10% of the population have concealed carry permits... seems to lower crime.

Hmmm. Im all for shooting an attacking animal, dog or otherwise. Ive done it myself. But you dont need to arm the blue rinse brigade when their mowing their lawns either. The truth is she probably would have shot herself or her saviour and theres nothing like a wounded howling writhing human being to turn a good game for the dog to an even better one.
I observe you used your .44 Dirty Harry and left the 3rd dog to crawl off into the scrub? Thats a little redneck even for you isnt it? Ive never left an animal suffer, vicious or otherwise. If your going to put one in it, a decent human being especially one who talks like the great white hunter, would finish the job eh?
