If that is what you want to do ... then go for it ... its just sad to see that the number of these types increases ... it doesn't add to the game ... it just detracts from it. [/B]

I'm going to try not to step on any toes here but offer my opinion for consideration.

We have a saying around my house and that saying is 'it IS what it IS' meaning there are some things we are powerless to change so we make the best of it.

Okay in applying that philosophy to gaming be it AH or any other on or offline game.  I've been vulched and I figure it's just part of the game.  Try to take off from a capped field a few times and if I'm not successful I just up from a base that isn't and come back to the capped one and die again (cause I'm new and I suck badly at dogfighting etc) or I jump in a field gun and blast away at the vulchers (got one the other day two can you give me a Dorie Miller ala Pearl Harbor 'YAAAHHHHOOOO'?).

For me vulching probably wouldn't do much because I'm trying to learn how to handle my plane(s) in actual ACM.  For others vulching is the fun part of the game.  Some people like taking fields, some people like driving the boats, some people like AVA, and so on.

For me to say that my idea of the correct way to play the game is the correct way for everybody to play the game would be ludicrous.

So vulchers if you see me upping from a capped field please do take your best shot.  If you down me I'll you and try again.  My score means nothing to me.  It's all about the action in my book but that's MY opinion and I respect everybody's right to have one which differs from mine.

Granted I haven't been on this site but for a couple of weeks but I'm an old school gamer and I have never had more fun or gotten as much out of any game ever.  I think HT has put out an incredible product and created a great community.

Thanks for your time folks... beers in the keg *points

"If it's red, it's dead..."

I'm not a high scoring uber ace who can sit here and quote airspeeds and tactical situations so pardon me for being a "newbie".

I will say this though, I've only been playing again for about a week. If I'm in the middle of taking off from a field and all of a sudden I here bullets ripping through my plane I think to myself, "Hmmm.. maybe I should take off from a different field."

I fully expect any enemy, from any country, to take every oppurtunity to blow my plane into little smoking bits at any vulnerable moment. Be that take off, or landing.

No, I wouldn't go "looking for" the chance to down someone on takeoff but then again if I happen to catch someone in that situation of course I'll try to put iron on target.

Stop trying to fight with some percieved rules of engagement and realize in war no one cares if your feelings get hurt. As a matter of fact, in a war I'm not only hoping to hurt your feelings but also your ability to fight.

Pardon me for butting into your verbal brawl gentlemen and yes I'm a "noob".  here's my take on the topic. I dislike getting vultched as much as the next man but I find that taking off from a "capped" field guarantees you'll have somewhat of a fight.  I agree with mars01 once you get up those guys doing the "capping" usually find themselves "capped".  I'm on a two week free pass thing and I usually play Il-2, my father in law likes this game a lot, he is the one that got me to try it out.  my opinion of it is that the massive numbers are a better, but the game play is not on the same standard as Il-2.  I might sign up for a regular subscription, I haven't decided yet.  The thing that annoys me the most is that few players in this game actually want to fight, they seem to be running to destroy buildings and make cheap kills.  That isn't fun to me.  this is a good game with the potential to be great, the players a sheepish though and that ruins it for some.

thats's my $.02

no offense intended.

:)

Yep that is the biggest problem with this game to date.  It has shifted from a great AtoA combat game to a sheepish AtoGround game or a "How safe can I fly game".  There are still some great sticks in this game that want to fight, the hard part is finding them in the MA.
