I have no problem at all giving a dead soldier the emblem of his/her choice on their grave marker. I'm not interested in joining a protest over it though.

I will add that the typical religious symbol conveys meaning in regards to the afterlife. If your religion (no idea what wiccans believe) has no faith in an afterlife then what's the point of a symbol on your grave marker?

Of course not, you haven't made it your job to protect constitutional rights. Disparaging those that do seems to be your gig.

Actually I did make it my job for 20 years but I'm now retired. The ACLU isn't protecting my civil rights, far from it.

Well, you said that the symbol has something to do with the afterlife, so you ask why the wiccans would need a symbol of their religion on their grave.  I know that christianity _has_ an afterlife, but what does the cross have to do with it?

The marker on the grave is a symbol of religious identification, not a forwarding address.

The cross as a symbol of Christianity is significant because it represents Christ's sacrifice in our place. It is the symbol of death defeated.

Are you assuming that the Wiccan symbol doesn't have some equivalent emotional meaning of some sort to its practitioners?  Also, what do you care what they have on their graves?

Are you just wanting to argue? I told you I thought they had earned whatever symbol they might want on their grave marker. Even if it is pointless. I know nothing of wiccans other than they weigh the same as ducks. ;)

Re-read it, he asked WHY they would want it.

Maybe I'm confused?

He said aetheist wouldn't want grave symbols, yes?

He expressed ignorance about Wiccan beliefs, yes?

I read again but maybe missing something?

I figured he was talking about Wiccans the whole time, what does atheism have to do with this?  I know lukster wouldn't be dumb enough to troll atheism into the conversation about grave markers, why do _you_ think he would?
