I'm curious : For those who consider yourself cherry pickers (which I dont think is a bad thing btw, just a different style of play), what are your rides of choice?

KI84 , fast and climbs well enough to stay out of harms way most times . The big plus for me is , it's also good enough turn fighter to dogfight in when the mob thins out or you drag one out to the side of the pack .

I like to dogfight but not in a big furballs as I can't keep my SA good enough to live very long .

anything that can outrun planes long enough to get back to friendlies and safety!

This is how I see the "different styles of play."

Most of the time cherry picking is directly related to who has learned enough not to be scared to fight, or those that are gaming the community for score.  I must also include the legitimate "re enactor type" who is trying to play this game as he would if he were back in WWII and trying to survive every mission with wingies intact.  Generally, it is the previously mentioned.

While duelers its either those that know or those that want to know how to own folks!

I think back when I mainly cherried for score and I got a real adrenalin rush from seeming to "get away".  Then I got called out on it, started furballing from that day forward, and have come to realise that the rush from actually knowing how to "own" someone is much greater to me, than that which I had as a "get away" type!   Fun is getting caught on the deck with three fellas trying to kill you and coming out with three more scalps for the mantle!:aok

Cherry Picker Deluxe

Trying to fight and not die is more exciting.

Any monkey can drive into a furball, guns a blazing and get a couple kills before he gets wacked.

Duelist.

Furballs are, far and away, the most I have in game. The bigger they are, the better. The best, in my opinion, are the CV v. AF furballs. Those things are freakin' massive.

No idea and don't give 2 cents where I fall. I play to have fun and fly any given way I choose to whenever I want. I'll change it in mid play time if I choose to as well.

i'm too scared to up a plane, what if someone shoots me?  If you ask me, there are no smart flyers in AH.  If they were smart they would not even bother to risk their virtual life......why do you ask?  because if they were smart, they would realize that flying a perfectly good cartoon plane, into a fake war in a fake land, with a fake country, is all risk and no reward.  Also, the rooks have yet to pay me my fee's for flying for them so actually it is costing me money.  So the smartest flyer in AH is the one who keeps the plane in the hangar, talks smack on 200, then comes to the BBS to tell us how good they are:aok

So i guess the question is, who is smarter?  the guy trying to survive in a fake war, with a virtual aircraft, flying for a fake country?  the who has no intention of suriving in is virtual aircraft, in a fake war they don't believe in, or the face country they have no loyalty to? Or maybe the guy who just logs on to have some fun?

also would vulcher only qualify as a smart flyer, no risk and potential for very good reward?

Smart one?  Flying many extra hours a campaign just looking for a pick?

Smart one? Never getting in over your head and the triumph of getting out alive?

I remember no missions I went out with the intent to simply pick. However I remember a couple missions as far back as AW where I was a "squirming weasel".

I see it more like this.
