Spiders are beautiful and friendly....especially when I'm crawling around under the house trying to fix a plumbing leak.

There's no experience quite like looking down from one's work and finding a large arachnid resting on one's abdomen.

I mash 'em....unless they're carrying a dead rat between their teeth.

Spider's don't bother me, I let them live in my house as long as they're not too creepy looking.

Spider webs DO bother me. First time I went walking through a texas forest I had to hold one of my trekking poles out in front of me like I was in JOTC checking for trip wires or something.

Went for a ride one summer night just to see if any deer were stirring.

Drove down the gravel road of our deer lease.  The webs of orb-weaver spiders were stretched from tree to tree all the way across the road.  I drove through so many it made the skin crawl.  You could see the spiders in the headlights, hanging in mid-air.

Some started to crawl across the hood and cab of the truck.  Had to roll up the window to keep them out.  Had to wash the truck the next morning to get the webs off.

Never understood why folks want to kill snakes so badly. They really do help control rodents and such. We used to use snake tongs on the farm for venemous ones, put them in a trash barrel and haul them off a ways.

My dad was actually bitten by a copperhead when he was young but we grew up without the fear of snakes.

However, I'm not a big spider fan.

I don't care too much one way or the other about killing them.  All the times I've killed snakes it was entirely for the benefit of teaching the kids that if I tell them something ('don't take the snakes out of the box to play with them or I'll kill it')  I mean it.

I will kill a spider just to kill it. I'm not a fan of them either (yeah, yeah, I know they keep the bugs down, etc, etc, etc).

Here's a Fox Snake I caught in our garage last month and the blog I wrote about his visit:

Snake in our Garage

From the intensity of Svea's screams last Saturday evening we were afraid that something very terrible had happened; I expected to see a severed limb when I ran into the garage.  Instead I saw my oldest daughter (the one who wanted to be a veterinarian) standing completely intact, yet paralyzed, in the middle of the garage floor.  Her terror ridden face was screaming at a wee little snake was slithering away from her.  I'm sure he found her shrieks painfully loud and just wanted to get away.  I scooped him up and then put him in a clear glass vase.  We observed him and researched his type on the Internet.  Joan called her cousin, Park Ranger Dave, down the street.  He drove down to take a look and confirmed that we had a Fox Snake.  I'd say he was about 3/8 of an inch in diameter and about 10 inches long.  We watched him try to escape while we ate dinner and discussed the best place to let him go.  Although it had only been a matter of minutes since Svea had been screaming for her dear life in fear of being eaten by this micro reptile, she was now in tears at the thought of parting with her dear new "pet".  We explained that he belonged outside.  We explained to her how we would feel if aliens had kidnapped her and wanted to keep her as a pet simply because they thought she was cute.  Eventually she accepted the situation for what it was.

Here he is inside the glass vase.

We let him go in the garden so that we could get a good look at him before he disappeared into the plant life.  In this picture, his tail can be seen at the bottom of the vase.

No, those really aren't giant blades of grass.  Note the forked tongue!

A movie of him being released:

RPM its only Ahrightwingers that have group phobias :)

Wow, nice giant centipede! We don't have those around here that big, but we do have smaller ones. I know that some of the larger centipedes can be deadly, but most of the ones around here only bother the smaller insects and small animals. And yeah, coral snakes are venomous, but generally they won't bite unless picked up.

We have some fox snakes around here, but I haven't seen any in a long while. Haven't seen any snakes in some time. Nice photography, you should go professional. :aok

I found a spider underneath me house here just a short while ago, big as me hand. I'm keeping her in a large terrarium I made from an old plastic storgae box. It is a large nursery web spider, biggest one I've ever seen, almost 5 inches across counting the legs.

if you insist on .22 cal. , the longer barrel and magnum is better. has about 10 ft range. IMO too close. read this for some more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_shot

someone posted a link to vids of a guy testing a lot of different guns and ammo. .22 ratshot didn't do a whole lot. wayyy too weak IMO.
info on coral snakes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_snakes

some of yall, sound like yall part of these people. weirdos IMO

snakebites can kill http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakebite , and avoid dead snakes, read the wiki article to find out why.

though I wouldn't stake my life on wiki articles, it can be a good place to start when researching something.
