golfer... "they" never did.   there used to be a bounty on crows and pidgeons and ground squirrels.

You do not eat vermin.. you can eat snakes I suppose but they are simply dangerous pests that need to be eliminated.

We poison a lot of our pest population now... like ground squirrels but.. it is still very moral to shoot them... more than poison in my opinion.

The myth that all gun people eat what they kill or even should is just that a myth.

The real deal is that hunters have always said that you eat what you kill when it applies to game animals.

I consider a squirrel a game animal.  What do squirrels do that make them evil pests?  They do a great job of running away or at least scurrying up a tree whenever I've come around.

Around here squirrels do a lot of damage to soffitts and attics.

There "used to be" is right. We have sinced learned the error of our ways. We made the passenger pigeon extinct, if you will remember. I've never seen a ground squirrel do anything that can cause a problem. It isn't moral to shoot something if your not going to eat it. Killing without a reason is unjustified, cruel, and evil. Thinking snakes are all bad evil pests is an outdated thought that has no basis in reason. Snakes are not a pest. Very much the opposite, their numbers are dwindling. There are fewer snakes now than just a few years ago. Snakes should not be eliminated. We have even found uses for their venom. Copperhead venom contains a component that can be used to treat cancer. It keeps the cancer cells from growing, and can eventually kill it. It also will keep the cancer from spreading. There are no side affects of it either, like modern treatments have. We have found things like this in many other venoms as well. If we lose those species, we lose the venoms, we lose the cures. Who knows what else could be found? Science is just now exploring the complicated compounds found in venoms, and many of them have uses. These cures could save many thousands of lives, and improve countless others.

It is still legal to shoot crows in most areas and it is legal to poison or shoot vermin including jackrabbits bunnies and groundhogs and squirrels.  only the bounty is gone..  in kalifornia we have a plague of crows and they are being shot again in some areas.

I don't care what kind of snake it is.. you will never get convicted for killing it if you say you feared it.

you are as usual..  full of it.

but since this is about first snake kills... I really can't recall mine there have been hundreds tho..  will probly be hundreds more.

Actually, the cures and stuff, beleive it or not, are real. They have been found, and are being tested right now, and no bad reports on any of them. And yes, around here, you will be convicted of killing a snake. It's up to a $5000 fine. In fact, this applies across the US to killing native species out of season. And since there is no season on any species of snake, it is illegal to kill them.

I have been attacked by one dog when i was a kid. I was just riding my bike along and all of a sudden a dog ran up and chomped into my thigh and tried to pull me off my bike. Luckily it gave up after a few seconds. Mom called the cops/pound and the dog was taken away. Ever since then, I have been paranoid of medium sized and up dogs.

Now of something 18in or taller comes up to me in attack mode, I will shoot it without hesitation. Anything smaller will just be kicked across the yard (or shot)

Wrong again, Colorado has a season for Prairie Rattlesnake.  LINK, go to page 12.  Same regs apply in 2007.

Once again you're full of BS.

Ok, so one state does. And only on one species, which is probably very abundant there. I know that to kill a snake in Tennessee is illegal. As it is to kill any species of turtle other than the snapping turtle.

You know I can`t remember my first either, but the one today was pretty enjoyable. The sucker was trying to find a way up onto my pontoon boat moored in the back. He made one too many circles and..............yep you guessed it..........BOOM.......good snake.

No, there really are cures for illnesses found in snake venoms. There really is an extract of copperhead venom that can help cure cancer. That is a fact. And it is also fact that we are making many soecies of plants and animals extinct that could have cures for illnesses in them.

I hate snakes, with a passion. This is how bad I hate snakes.....

One time I was fishing at a reservoir and saw a dead one......so I stomped on it and kicked it.....just to be sure.....I mean, I really went off on this thing.

Guy I was with says......what the HECK are you doing? It was already dead. I said.....I just had to be sure....:rofl
