If you HAD to relocate?

Hmmmm....

Been to Panama... Didn't like it. Travel in Groups if you visit.
Been to Germany... Beer, Wine and Meats are good. Women don't shave arm pits or legs and wash there hair once a Month.
Been to Korea... Great if you are away from the Major cities. Asian Women are the best!
Been to Japan... Might be worth another trip. See above.
Been to Texas... Don't drink the water.
Been to Hawaii... Loved it. Too young to get wood.
Been to Alaska... Cold, If I had wood it would have froze off.

Would like to visit Australia... Perth.  Got friends there begging me to visit.

:aok

I'll stick with Belize.

Belize sounds interesting :)

I checked the website you posted. I think you misread the chart...

The BigMac is 280 Yen... the 118 is the exchange rate of Yen to USD.
Cost of the burger is about 2.40 USD.

But, your point is well taken; Japan is very expensive by US standards.

OK,

Thought I'd think this through. Countries I've visited are:

Britain,
Ireland,
France,
Spain,
Portugal,
Belgium,
Luxembourg,
Netherlands,
Germany,
Austria,
Switzerland,
Italy,
Denmark,
Sweden,
Norway,
Greece,
Czech Republic
Croatia (it was still Yugoslavia at the time)
Slovenia (also still Yugoslavia at the time)
Egypt,
Tunisia,
Morocco,
South Africa,
USA,
Canada,
Mexico,
New Zealand,
Mauritius
United Arab Emirates.

Of those, I've live in the UK, the USA and Germany (albeit for only six months).

I definitely need to start seeing more of Asia. A visit to South America is also overdue.

If I absolutely had to move from the US, to a country I've already been too, it would be Northern Italy. Great people, great cities, the Alps, the Lakes and the Med all within easy driving distance.

rpm beat me to it.

rpm, you and I would be all over the hotties on the beach.    Belize is a gorgeous country (would like to take the wife there) and would be tops on my list.

Australia is English speaking, first of all. Secondly, given my education, I think I could find decent work there. Their economy is strong, education levels decent, and real estate can still be purchased at decent prices without having to compromise too much. Finally, their social values aren't too far off from what I'm used to, and from what I've heard, the place is beautiful.

The hole in the ozone and the high incidence rate of skin cancer troubles me, as does the influx of immigrants from poor Arab nations.

There, now that I plugged that hole, why don't you answer the question.

I live in Australia. A good deal of what we do here is copied from America, so you'll fit right in.

Our government is your *****, so it's the same direction there.

If anything, I'd say that we're more relaxed and that's about it.

We drive on the other side of the road.

Don't worry about the skin cancer thing... Just learn to wear sunscreen. People only get skin cancer here because they're too frigging stupid to put on sunscreen and even go out intentionally and get burnt in order to get that tan that every banana in this country is so obssessed with.

If you're not into the 'beach bronze' look, you won't have a problem.

To be honest, this country is nothing great. I'd go to Germany.

Australia is going down hill.

68hawk..  northern kalifornia is different than southern kalifornia.   Have you ever been to kalifornia?

There are a lot of places with 500-3000 people or so and the weather really can't be beat... that is why real estate goes up here all the time.

I am about a year from retirement then I can go where I please but...  I have lived in other states...  they are all about the same so far as silly laws.   As kalifornia goes.. so goes the rest in a few years it seems...  Not much freedom left in the US anymore..  but still better than anywhere else.

The trick is to get away from people...  rural kalifornia is about like rural anywhere else in the states with better weather...  In kalifornia you can live in the country and for about 20 years no one will bother you..  at that time your property will have trippled or more in value and you can move out in the sticks again...that is pretty much what I did where I am at..  now it is time to move.

I'll never leave my beloved florida but as my property approaches ten times it's value from when we purchased it and the city of miami encroaches rapidly to the west we are considering purchasing land further north in okeechobee county.

we considered land in tennessee and north carolina and while it's nice it just doesn't feel like home to us.
