That virus has been around for years. I had a version that would put up a huge red sign on screen that said, "You have been infected by a virus" and it told me to goto a certain web addy and pay them to fix it. FIX IT!!! THEY"RE the ones who did it... RIPPPP OFFFFFF! The fix was easy as I just did a google search for it. For the love of me I can;t think of the name of that particular virus...

Let me know the name they used and also contact Skuzzy.

Hope this helps.

They claim it's 'virus protect pro'

What it does is pop up an annoying bubble that says:  Your system has detected a number of spyware applications.  Click here for an up-to-date anti spyware solution.'

After doing a google search (gotta' love google)  I found out it was spyware itself, along with some malware...  I will fix this after I do EVERYTHING I have been suggested.  Aye aye aye!  So much work...  I hope it's rainy tomorrow, so I have an excuse to be on my computer for the 9 hours it will take to do all this.

I hope your happy guys, for the next day or two, I won't have a life!

(not that I had much of one anyway.)

Reformat the harddrive, reload the op sys, and install your drivers again.  Voila, you are back in the game.

Going forward, stay off the porn sites, and you won't get the viruses.

Finally, I am not sure how our best and brightest 7th graders can forget the comment mid typing......  What was I saying?

well, generally I read the entire thread before I post.  And when I have some witty comment for a particular post, I'll continue reading on, and by the time I'm done, I would've forgotten that witty comment.

But believe me, You can't hide from me... I WILL read all your posts.  Just because I'm not posting, doesn't mean I'm not there.

:t :t :t

Also, I don't know how to re-format the hard drive, reload the op sys... or install my drivers!!!

Well, I TRY to install my drivers, but whenever I do, something goes horribly horribly wrong.  And then they forget what they were doing and don't install after I restart computer.

Kind of like how I post.

As for the.. ehem, viruses...

...  It wasn't me?

Oogly,

A Google search on your "virus protect pro" trojan produced a Yahoo link to http://www.superantispyware.com by someone who was also infected by the same trojan and claimed the program deleted it. The website looks legit as they offer a free and "Pro" version.

My own history suggests that the free version may identify virus protect pro but you may have to buy the Pro version to actually remove the trojan. I dunno...but it may be worth a shot.

I got myself infected with one of these malware apps a few years back. The morons who produce this crap ought to be hung by their bollocks.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I got through that process once.....  ie, reformatting and starting over, so I am no expert.

Surely some of you can talk him through that process.  Something he can print out and use?

And on top of everything ELSE.  A video driver I recently tried to update, supposedly had something 'wrong' with it, and now it uninstalls itself regularly every day or so.  I tried reinstalling it, but now.. it won't install.

My computer's a handfull.

Hey Oogly if you cant figure it out just reformat your computer then just reload AH again in about 2-3 hours your problems will be solved
GOOD luck
