That's one thing I don't like about the new sound system, the inability to adjust the individual sounds like in the previous version.

Worse change of all time, of all time!

HiTech please allow us to change individual sound volumes if it's possible.

That's the idea behind "positional sound".

That would not be my preference if given the choice.

Part of what's going on with the sound change is to greatly expand the number of sounds in the game.  Doing that and retaining individual sound controls is just not feasible.  I don't know of any other games that are setup that way.

We are going to have to make some adjustments to individual sounds and try to find a happy medium on different sound volume levels on different setups.  Aside from that, custom sounds still work so you can always put in a different sound.

Well for my part, since I am such a simpleton, the game is getting away from the base it has always played to.  Dale always said he wanted to keep the game so that the average player could play and didn't need a top shelf high end computor or sound system, this seems to have kept him in business for a lot of years.

Just my opinion though so it don't count for much.

I for one dont need an air raid siren.  One look at the blinking maprooms and base tells you something is in the area.  Please make it go away... :pray

Simply find the sound file and rename it.

How is simplifying the sound controls catering to a high end audience exactly?

Simplicity is the goal, having a thousand sound sliders for a bunch of sounds that you don't even know what they are is not really newbie friendly.  That why no other games do that.

If you want to ditch a sound altogether, you can use a blank .wav file as your custom sound.

Blank wav file? hmmm

How about editing a game sound file and making the default volume lower?
