Very nice Snail.

Was a lot of fun!  I didn't make it back after getting separated from the group, but enjoyed the mission anyhow.

Since I'm a recent FA transplant I've never seen or participated in an event like this and I can say I had a blast! I even made it make home! Thanks 96Delta for putting this together!

Thanks Buck.

I too am an FA transplant from many years ago.
I flew GE with a squad named the Rebells for
many years before Microsoft sold the game.

I (really) hate the chess game free-for-all nonsense of this game but
until a more true-to-life WWII flight sim comes along I figure I'll loiter
here.  Anyway, a major reason I put these missions together is to
get away from the arcade game and enjoy something a little more
historically realistic.

I'm glad you had a good time!  Next month's battle
is another historical reenactment but without
bombers.  It's pure fighter adrenaline!

If my Bishop counterpart can pull his troops together it
should be a furious clash.

You're right ROX.  I forgot about that lone Brewster.
I heard one guy quip, "What's that Brewster doing up here?"

I'm not sure, but most of the guys in allied planes
were Bish. which is odd considering we were attacking
Knights.  Ok well.

Some people just don't get it.

I have to defend them a bit.

I was Bish first, only after I saw the MoM was heading toward Nitland I switched to Knights.
That being said, I can attest that the majority of players on the Bish side did not know about the MoM, or what a MoM even is. The very concept was slowly being imparted to them by a few players, but you can't expect following any "code of conduct" by players that do not frequent the BBS. They just see a big darbar on the map.

Even when being a knight, I constantly read "whoa look at that big darbar", "what the hell is that?" and a lot of "ALERT AXX, get your >Wirbels out NOW!" every time the MoM entered a new dar circle.

MA is what it is. It is definitely not the place to expect all players to follow some "rules" (or suggestions) they don't even know about. You hardly can get them in uniform the way you can do in the SEA's, and I would not be dissapointed by that.

point? :headscratch: if you didnt think it was funny seeing 20-25 P47Ms streaming towards both rooks and nits (the objective was just to knock as many out of the skies as possible) then you guys need to lighten up. we did it all in good fun and everyone who upped in the bishop mission that i posted all had a blast. if you guys are whining about it then i dont know what to say. this game was made to have fun... really stop griping that the bish interfered just to have some fun...

321,

I really didn't expect any better but please remember this particular
mission was a themed event to honor pilots who fought and died in the
actual battle 67 years ago.

I was hoping that players would honor that spirit.
I'm not mad, just disappointed and embarrassed for them.

If they didn't know, then no harm, no foul.

I'm hoping that was the case as I don't want to believe that
players are that indifferent to our attempts to honor
the battle and the men who flew in it.  I hope they have more
class than that.

So, when viewed against this understanding,
Funny?  Not so much.

honestly no one that flew in the 47s knew this. we were there to have the fun, if we knew about the historical side of it we would have stayed out of it. but last MoM was also out of fun and if you didnt notice, there were 6 P51s that attacked you guys. that was us. its all in good fun, and you cant really expect less from the MAs. You just need to keep an open mind to all the players.

In some way, the "harm" is already there. Because you and some others had certain expectations or hopes, that haven't been fulfilled for some part.
But I have to say quite frankly: Having such expectations in the MA (chaotic, free for all, and uninformed as it is) is wrong in the first place. I think I made my point pretty clear at the last memorial flight fiasco in the MA a few months ago. You can only be disappointed then.

And on a more personal note: Even knowing about this MoM and your intention to "honor the events 67 years ago", it was absolutely NOT my reason for taking a A5. Bluntly said: I couldn't care less. My reason was I wanted to "honor" (I admit i don't even like to use that word) you, my opponents. I had the feeling I should refrain from simply blasting through the raid in my 262 for the umpteenth time, particularly as you wished to engage more proper period planes. But again, that had nothing to do with "honoring" any real WW2 events or people.
