The most accomplished hunter in my house isn't me.  My 6 lbs., black and white, never spent a day in the wild cat will kill anything that walks, crawls, flies, or slithers through my yard.  She doesn't need to kill anything... she's well fed and always plenty to drink.  She likes to hunt and kill.  She usually doesn't kill it quickly either... kinda likes to play with it a bit before dragging it to the back door so she can show it off to me as a trophy, where I pick it up and bury it so she doesn't bring it back.  She usually looks pissed, following me and meowing like she's arguing for me to reconsider.  I tell her to shut it and I start digging a little grave in some place where my grass already sucks.  I like to think of myself as a lot more humane than her, honestly.

I've recently read that this isn't a trophy from your cat. It is actually trying to teach YOU how to hunt for prey. Basically, the cat wants to provide for and teach its offspring to hunt for prey. It sees you as its next of ken, sorta speak, and does this out of pure natural phenomenon of teaching its family to hunt. Cats are some of the most predatorial species on the planet. You can see in there ways just how well they have learned to hunt.

Survival without an easy way to get food and necessities makes moralistic behavior and empathy toward things a lot lower, causing animals to do things they wouldn't rationally do in order survive.

Pests are killed because they are a nuisance and/or damage property. Doesn't really matter if they're mosquitoes or coyotes.

I have to admit...if a animal is being like you describe then yes do what needs to be done...

a grizzly bear can be a pest in that sense....

I am not talking about that.....not even remotely close to that....

And you do know how the Native Americans hunted buffalo, right? It was wasteful beyond measure.

Buffalo jumps have been found all over the country.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_jump

The Indians believed that if some animals escaped the trap they would learn to avoid them, so they killed whole herds at a time. Much more than they could possibly use or preserve.

 :rofl :rofl

dude seriously

dont believe everything you read

even if they did kill lots at a time...The Indians killed what they needed....not only that but everything of that animal went to use....they wasted Nothing that could be used...

it was white man that destroyed the Buffalo....they skinned them and left them on the plains to rot....by the thousands...

to try to say the Indians are even remotely close to the white man in destruction of the earth is a straight out lie....or someone so full of Koolaid it is breaking their brain.

that's priceless
coming from a guy trying to say the Indians were like the white man when talking about the treatment of Buffalo's....

The myth of the Indian not having an impact on wild life due to their hunting is purely a myth.  There is ample archeological evidence that native inhabitants have had a significant impact on wildlife due to over hunting, going back to the time when people first started to appear on the continent.  The first natives to inhabit the continent are widely recognized to have attributed to the extinction of the mammoth in North America due to their over hunting.

Here is a link to a good report explaining the impact of Indian hunting in North America.  Results will be surprising to some, especially to those with rose tinted glasses.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2012/10/19/bison-bone-bed-destroyed/1643939/

"A team of archaeological investigators, anthropologists and Crow tribal officials today are headed to the site of a 2,000-year-old bison kill site that was unearthed last summer as part of Westmoreland Resources Inc.'s plans to expand its Absaloka Coal Mine."

"The largest bison bone bed was estimated to cover almost 3,000 square meters and contained the remains of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of butchered bison remains and prehistoric spear points dating back to the Late Archaic period, Utah State University anthropologist Judson Finley said."

What has that to do with the fact that the indians (just as many other indegenious people over the world) did have an environmentally impact and even caused the exctinction of species?
