Long story short in 06 Magic Dick (richard) and I met and went into the olf JG days and how great it would be if they stuffed the arenas again. 4 mos later the did a reuion tour, or 4.

Funnest band I ever saw 76 and 77. Best crowd control ever. They just never paused.

our first album was released yesterday. 14 songs.

We've all known each other and have been friends since the late 80s, having met through the Phoenix music scene.

Maybe it’s just me but it seems like fashion and music have stagnated since 2000. When I was growing up whole new genres of music were invented like twice per decade.

took more time with it...

I hear a level of Pop, which is a good thing. Just enough.

#1 I'm Fine has the scent of Shania Twain, It has a natural influential hook. I hear quite a few influences through out the whole thing. Ocean is popping really nice.

Out

I picked up on the fillers. Very nicely done. That mixdown is nice and tight. Good layering of Bkg vox with lead, I think I hear some dbling in there to. Nice panning. You worked on vox FX didn't ya?

Over-all an excellent job.

I hope you get through that tough market in TN.

Thanks again.

It's hard for me to hear these objectively, and since we've been working with them and mixing and all of that you kind of get sick of them. I think we can improve a lot - and I think we will on the next batch.

I mixed about half of these and our drummer, Travis, mixed the others. We doubled vocals in some places and not others. Yeah, we did our best on the vocal processing. Since these songs, we've gotton some new gear. Really high-end gear in some cases.
Like - I got a top of the line vocal mic with a really good preamp for it. Our guitar player, Todd, also has a mastering studio. Even though he already has the best  of the best gear, he went over the last 2% that you can possibly go on some new mastering hardware. He uses all mostly all outboard gear that's basically as good as you can buy.

Like I said, there's a lot that I think we can work on to improve. We think we have better songs for the next batch . I think we will  improve the recording and mixing aspects. Personally, I'm going to present songs with a little more grit to them.

Thanks for listening and for the feedback!

Brooke! That would be fantastic! We were supposed to visit Travis in Franklin toward the end of last year, but then he had to go on tour with Sugarland PLUS he's a session player and just got booked out. Hopefully soon!

Sweet!  I live in Franklin, so that is even closer. :)  Nashville is only about 15 min away, though.  So when folks visit, I'm totally up for that, too.

Bha! You know by now you’ll always think you can grow. Eric Clapton and David Gilmour are still trying to grow.

I’m a live engineer, we just try to mimic the mix the studio invents.

Preamps matter. In the late 80s -early 90s a major sound company (DB Sound) I know switched out the preamps of a Yamaha 4k console with Gamble preamps. No one else could figure out why their Yam 4ks sound so much better than theirs. Ha!

When I did Martina Mcbride, I think it was her husband who mixed live for Garth Brooks brought in a Gamble console for FOH. One of the only live consoles sounds I like more than a Midas Heritage 3k. I like the bells and whistles of digital, I like how analog sounds more. Difference between Vinyl and CD, vinyl is warmer.

I think it turned out better than you think. But not liking it makes you push harder, IMO, thats healthy and normal. But seriously, it has some good hooks in it. Push it hard.

I’ll post it on my FB page. Might help it get out into Chicago area. I have a few local radio DJs not owned by Clear Channel, that might bite.

A DJ from a local radio station acknowledged he listened to it and complimented it.

Baby steps.

Their signal reaches into Chicago from IN.
