Don’t wind me up on todays country music, or I’ll post a country thread. I have the power, and I’ll use it <wags finger>

It’s contemporary pop music with a rehearsed vocal twang. All the dudes trying to be Garth.  Furthermore… <gouges eyes out>

When was the last time you heard a steel gtr in modern country?

I should stop before my head explodes,…again. I’ve limited my head explosions quota to two per day. Lying about it still continues.

It is, but it's all the same, funded the same people with the same agenda.

Very true

Glad I lived through much better music than what is out there now..

Honestly don't listen to much music this days as I would rather have silence than noise..

I totally understand that. Some good ones slip through the cracks of corporate nonsense, but as a whole I’m diggin silence

There's still some good country artists out there.  I could point you in the right direction  :D

There is. But not at the cowboy hat clown level. These peeps rarely write their own songs. They buy lyrics at a lyric library in Nashville.

They just in it to play a pumped chest cowboy they never were never will be. Probably raised in suburbia.

I worked many if their shows. Thr cowboy hat only goes on when they hit the stage.

got to see Isbell live twice.  Once was an acoustic show, and it was awesome.  Second was a free show at the Levitt Shell in Memphis with his full band: equally as awesome.  Southeastern and Something More Than Free have some of the best songwriting of our generation.  I just haven't been able to get into any of his recent stuff.

I’ll get accused of braggin by the small world.

I spent the day with him as we did a media Q&A releasing his best or first CD. With Vampires in it.

He’s just a very normal down to earth dude. Talked all day waiting for our stage window. So, I met him and liked him before he even played his first song there. I thought when I was assigned it would suck, I was wrong, we had a great time.

Good guy. Its not an act. He is off stage the same as on stage. I can’t not respect that. What ya see is what ya get

Reminds me of John Prine kinda writing talent

Yep.  And he often gets mislabeled as country when he's said many times he's not and doesn't claim to be.  Also love the fact he considers himself a guitarist before a singer-songwriter.
