What happened to rock/music

Been on the rail for both of those bands (10 years actually opened for Seether), and they were freaking awesome live.

I almost posted a couple of Seether albums. Their last 3 albums have been awesome.

It's been slow going this year. We've only played one gig all year, but we do have two more planned in the coming weeks.  The bar seen isn't doing so well around us.  Plus, tiktok has given everyone and their grandmother the chance to play music, so bars and restaurants are booking solo acoustic acts so they can pay them $100 for 4 hours of music.  All of a sudden they "can't afford" to pay us.

Back in the 80s I used to take a small concert system into rock bars, there were like 40-50 around us, now there might be one, no big systems, a LOT rougher now than in my bar days. Very sad because thats where new great artist were found. Aerosmith, Foghat, Styx, Alice Cooper used to play a golf club concert venue (dance hall) near me before they were anyone. A sad situation now days. Keep playing anyway

wow I just noticed I said "seen" instead of "scene" 

We got in a pretty good groove in 2023 and 2024 playing events (fairs, weddings receptions, parties, etc...), and it was so nice.  Made twice as much money per gig, was outside so we could really push our amps (and NO CIG SMOKE!!!!!!!), larger crowds.  Played in front of my largest crowd ever last year at our local county fair... I think official headcount was over 4,000.  Not many people in the grand scheme of things, but for a cover band, that's not bad lol.  And way more intimidating than playing for 3-400 drunk people.

I'm more of a country music fan than rock and roll these days, but every time I see Post Malone or Jellyroll I want to puke. You could put all these new music makers in one room and they wouldn't amount to a pimple on Merle Haggards or George Jones butt.

I listened to this earlier today. I’ve had my turtlebox playing music in the house all weekend long.

I'm more of a country music fan than rock and roll these days, but every time I see Post Malone or Jellyroll I want to puke. You could put all these new music makers in one room and they wouldn't amount to a pimple on Merle Haggards or George Jones butt.

Don’t get me on my soapbox about radio country. It’s mainly Nashville country that has gone to poop. There’s still some Texas/Red Dirt artists that are killing it! The Turnpike Troubadours are a great example.

I’ll start a thread for country music as to not hijack this one.

Ahh 1977, probably the very peak of old skewl rock and roll.
Chicago had the series of concerts called "Super Bowl of Rock" at Solider Field.
These were an experience. Lot of people still tell stories about it. I went to Game 3, crazy fun no doubt.

Every "game" sold out at 80,000, even though only 2/3 of the venue was used for seating.

I started feeling old when they started playing 90s rock on the local "Classic" rock station.... I was only born in the 90s
