I'm not in any way trying to be the anti-piracy police police as I have 1 or 2 (or 45GB) of borrowed mp3s, but IL2 is worth supporting with your money. You know how bad the flight sim genre is in terms of developers making new games. Show Oleg and company you want them to make more by dropping some cash on it.

End of public service announcement.

As do I. Even in Blizzard's case. That doesn't invalidate paying for it if you like it. I'm not even sure why I'm clarifying this.

I have a fare sized collection of boxed, flight sims.  All collecting dust. Im getting a litlle tired of buying stuff I dont like.

I couldnt care less about eyecandy.  I just want to know what the FM is like. Why the hell dont they make a demo, thats a "real" demo?

Easymo, the FM of IL2 is good. Its fun but it doesnt have the edge envleope qualities that AH has that would allow you to fly aircraft at tournement level precision like we do in AH. In AH everybody flies like they are Adolf Galland. In real life I suspect that edge is obtainable if one is brave enough. Shrug, Id give you my copy free but since I figure you for the kinda guy that doesnt take handouts, 20 bucks.

I am trying to figure out what line of logic you followed, to come up with this. Because Demos are Free, Mcfly.

If you are trying to sell a new BMW. You don't stick someone in a ford pinto, and say "drive this around the block. Its pretty much the same thing"  That just doesn't make sense.

The best way I could describe the difference between Il-2 and AH is I have to think ahead more in Il-2. In AH, everything is light and precise; in Il-2 it takes longer to set up a kill. It's kinda like the inertia of WB (though not as bad) combined with the pre-1.3 AH flight model. It is a more challenging flight model in many ways, in particular in the fine movements. If you are into realism (read "challenging"), there are definitely more variables to consider in the Il-2 equation.

IL2s FM developed though out patched. It changed drastically from v1.0 to 1.2. Developer is not going to re-release demo over and over and over again. They will be wasting money that way. I’d recommend buying game, not steeling . This sim truly worth 40$.

Ps To all Pony fans, FB might have flyable P-51D. Check out weekly update on main site/

Thanks kieran. That gives me a better understanding of FM.  What is the online play like?  I have read on some boards that it has gone the lowest common denominator route. Outside views, etc. The usual gamey stuff, much like AH's 8player.  They claim its hard to find a full realism arena in IL2

I heard that P51 will not make it to FB...I dont think it ever saw service in Eastern front (and was never shipped to Russia).

I have seen screenshots of P47D razorback though...

Forgotten Battles Looks awesome.

I really wish they would allow Free ware models. I think Oleg is making a bad decision by not allowing it.

He allows Third Party models, but it has to be cleared by 1C.
and distrubuted by 1C.

I'm salivating for Western Front!! I would probably buy every Flight Sim they sell.

Especially LOMAC So as long as I get to fly an A6 Intruder.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
