I have been playing awhile and I think I got a good understanding of the game and flown for two countrys so far. If there is one thing ive noticed about the folks that occupy top ranks in this game its this.

They spawn camp. Favorite thing to say on radio is bring me Vehicle supplies. Like its there god given right to have you tend to there 100 plus kill mission.

They never kill fh at enemy base with buffs. Doing so would hurt there score.

They never are the ones asking you what they can do to help. They are the guys that only go into a base after that get an all clear (is the ack dead??)and have at least five friendlies vulching with them.

Also look for the guy that never starts a fight but always drops from 20k to pop the guy your fighting. Then you say thanks for the help as he rtb to land those kills.

They tend to sit back and eat around the edge allowing everyone else to do the dirty work.

They are no help to the country they fight for cause the mission you are doing does not coincide with his mission to protect his points. Bottom line.

Eskimo fortunately I dont care what you think. However you do spend so much time telling me and anyone that will listen how badly I suck how poorly I play how my rank does not mean anything and how boring it must be play the way I do.

Yet I still have more fun then I have at any other game. I still daily requests for films. I give check rides and pointers to more people then you even talk to. I get supplies just by asking because I have helped so many people they are more then happy to reciprocate. I join missions and participate wholeheartedly. I prefer to be the first guy to the field. I up at fields under attack when Im the only guy there. I attack the goon when I have to get past fighters that are sure to latch onto my six.

When I get on the radio and say "Mission up!" we get response. How many people answer your call? Oh wait you never call.

Afraid to up? Sit in a field gun all day? That speaks louder then all your words added up. Jealousy. Deny it all you want. :D

The guys I fly with in this case bishops know better then the lot of you how I go about it. All your ranting about how I score comes down to one thing.wine
. So go on fool yourselves your not fooling the ones that count and thats the guys I fly with. They dont care a hoot about you but its obvious my score is eating you alive. [/B]

It's whine you swine(I think):D

And to add to this. I had fun respawning in a PT boat shooting people down and getting shot down. I also had fun flying, landing, hotpadding over and over to land alot of kills. What i'm trying to say is fun is what fun is to the individual.

Well, it sure looks like you care what I think!
How much time do I spend telling you and others what I think of you?  A few minutes a month equals… lots?

My issue with you is your ego.  It’s massive.  It’s even bigger than Fester’s.  I’ve never really said that you suck as a pilot, only that you appear to be so absolutely driven to prove to everyone how great you are.  Everything about you is focused on proving how great you are.  Your bragging is annoying.  If the most fun that you’ve ever had playing a game is purely driven by trying to convince everyone that you are so fantastic, then that speaks volumes about your personality.
You seem incapable of saying anything without trying to one-up everyone, or brag about your virtual exploits.

And in case you haven’t noticed, I fly almost exclusively in the CT since it opened.  I fly in the MA when the CT is down.

And lastly, why in the world would I be jealous of you (in R.L. or this game)?  I can’t think of one thing about you that I admire.  If you honestly believe that your rank is a pure indicator that you are “the greatest”, then remember whom you are talking to.  Do a little research and see how I ranked in the MA before the CT opened.  It sounds like you may be the one person who might actually be impressed.

I’ve ranked pretty high myself, I just never had any delusions about what it meant.

There are 3 things needed to rank well;
(Dedication/Effort Towards Rank) X (Understanding of the Rank System and trick) X (Skill)

You’ve got the first two parts maxed-out, and you have decent skills.
You will certainly outrank anyone with outstanding skill, but does not understand the rank system, or doesn’t care enough to put forth an effort.
Thinking that it’s all about skill, however, is very foolish.

I'm reading through this thread looking for anyone supporting voss's banter.  I don't see it.

Score potato is not a term that describes the top 10 pilots.  Its a term that describes anyone that plays the game simply to get a higher score.  Everything they do is based on score... vulching... spawn camping... whatever.

Most of the people posting in this thread are guys I've seen in the middle of fights.  Eskimo, any of the MAW, pongo and virtually everyone else.  I've only seen you above the fights.

I have much more respect for the guys that play the game than those that game it.

Voss talkin about duty....how about when you came rooks for a nite so you could bomb a factory that nobody was around.....and then you told us rooks where the bish were hiding our cv an that you had just moved it a little closer.

Your the worst type of team player voss...you change teams for easier scoring options...then give away other teams secrets....if I was a bish I would give your location away daily for being a traitor.

You bish should rethink helping that guy.

Come now, voss. Nowhere in any of my posts did I say I was in any way superior to anyone. I asked a simple question. And I never did tell you or anyone else on the bishops my old CPID. I've said it several times on the BBs... I am SPLOID... get that through your head. If you don't believe me, check my progress from the tour that I started (September 2002) to the present. And I'd like to know who it is that I "told you" I used to be. If you do indeed have a demo of this, PLEASE post it.

And as for my "attitude." I hate salamanders. And you, sir (voss), are a salamander. Don't like my attitude on the forums? Don't read my posts. Don't like my attitude in the MA? Squelch me.

And if you actually do believe rank is about skill... there is absolutely no hope for you. I was ranked in the 20's my third tour in this game, and I didn't know a high yo-yo from a lawndart. It's about effort and commitment (by commitment I mean time online... you having 190 hours at this moment..), and a little skill helps as well. You think you're better than me.. you may be right. Who am I, or you, to say? There is one thing I can say, and with authority: You are a salamander.

If hitech or someone reads this, I'm sure it will be deleted, or I'll be emailed about it, as I was about my language on channel 1... But I stand by it.

I agree with guys like gatso and wetrat as to the drudgery of playing to the scoreboard. I've done it (not here) and it's boring. The worst part is having to run away from friends in need. Now, I get gratification from being thanked by guys I'm working with, and that is sufficient. I do think that ranks can "just happen". In Tour 34 I was ranked 3 and 4 in attack planes against objects and enemies. I had no idea I had done this till I checked the score sheet. (I normally just refer to k/d stats)

The k/t stat is as farcical as it is gamey. How many real WW2 pilots were assessed on that?

Now that I tend to disagree with... while it is gamey, as it wasn't a factor in any way shape or form in WW2, it speaks loudly of a player's style in AH's main arena. Kills / time differentiates between the guys who fly low and furball, and the guys who climb to 20k from a completely safe field every sortie. While vulching does tamper with k/t, it doesn't affect k/t any more than it does the other categories.

Personally, when I'm not score mongering, I look to k/t and accuracy more than anything. If I've got a k/d of 5.0 and a k/t of like 6... I'd say that I've been flying like a panzy just trying to stay alive. I look at accuracy because I love having a high hit % :)
