Nah, we only start keeping score when a special kind of ignorance presents itself. When players say things like "You wouldn't last two seconds vs me in any plane in the DA," or "I'm afraid it would be totally impossible for you to get close to my skill level," that's when we start bringing up numbers (and what lopsided numbers they were, el oh el). Otherwise, we're just here for the bullets and planes and crap.I truly hope this isn't about me...

An A8 knocked out my engine/radiator, but you already knew that - your F6F came in after I had no choice but to attempt to ditch, which is why I was heading away from your base. The lowest rank is Colonel, with many players having attained the rank of General.
No other squadron is as elite, more prestigious, harder to get into and strives harder for outstanding excellence.

We actually use the most 'classless' tactics ever IRL, launching cruise missiles from 20 miles away without the enemy ever knowing what hit them. .or flying at Angels 15 raining 20mm, 40mm, 105mm rounds on an enemy at night giving them little to no chance of striking back. I wasn't aware that there was any rivalry between myself and DrBone, or The Damned vs The Damned DFC (aka TDDFC - that sorta has a nice ring to it). They're very similar to us in a lot of ways, which IIRC is how they came by their new name. We have no hard feelings towards them whatsoever, and regularly wing with their members and vice-versa.
In fact (and please correct me if I'm wrong here), any responses posted by us (including posts, images, animated GIFs, and the ever self-indulgent YouTube videos) have been aimed at other squadrons who have not only refused to respond, but have flat-out refused to enter a competition with us, let alone fight on even grounds (not that having an advantage would make much of a difference for them).
We'd be more than happy to fight TDDFC; and if they wish to fight us, consider that an acceptance of the challenge. However, DrBone did not issue the challenge to our squadron, nor did I issue one to his. I believe the throwing out of that challenge to include both of our squadrons is nothing more than a smokescreen to hide the fact that the other squadrons won't fight either The Damned or TDDFC. Any why would they? The last squadron to openly challenge us was beaten by nearly 100 kills fighting a single individual in the MA. How do you think a fight between an entire squadron of Damned would go against them?
A more appropriate challenge would be The Damned+TDDFC vs POTW+AoM+Whoever else. Now THAT would be a slaughter, but I'm sure most here are well aware of what that outcome would be.

We only have one shade on our roster, and that's just so the CO isn't tied to any one of our personal accounts/game ID's. Everyone else is an actual player, though of those, we have 3 who rarely log on and a 4th who's busy moving into a new house for the next several weeks.Sounds Good, like Way said, most of the members are in the BOWL scenario going on so it will be a few weeks at best.

"Jump the merge"? Wow... in 16 years of flying, I've never heard of someone complaining about a vertical lead turn on a merge. In fact, it's VERY easy to counter it if you actually know what the heck you're doing. If you knew anything about ACM, you'd actually take advantage of it. "Jump the merge"? Wow... in 16 years of flying, I've never heard of someone complaining about a vertical lead turn on a merge. In fact, it's VERY easy to counter it if you actually know what the heck you're doing. If you knew anything about ACM, you'd actually take advantage of it. Yes. In just about every duel I've ever flown in or watched, there's jockeying for position that happens before the merge, but blatant jumping of the merge is generally not seen... except with you. It makes sense too, because when you don't manage to get on top of your opponent in a fight, your chance of having your toon ego crushed goes up exponentially. I never called it cheating, either, just limp wristed and weak in what's supposed to be an test of skill.

I wasn't aware that there was any rivalry between myself and DrBone, or The Damned vs The Damned DFC (aka TDDFC - that sorta has a nice ring to it). They're very similar to us in a lot of ways, which IIRC is how they came by their new name. We'd be more than happy to fight TDDFC; and if they wish to fight us, consider that an acceptance of the challenge. However, DrBone did not issue the challenge to our squadron, nor did I issue one to his. I believe the throwing out of that challenge to include both of our squadrons is nothing more than a smokescreen to hide the fact that the other squadrons won't fight either The Damned or TDDFC. Any why would they? The last squadron to openly challenge us was beaten by nearly 100 kills fighting a single individual in the MA. How do you think a fight between an entire squadron of Damned would go against them?
A more appropriate challenge would be The Damned+TDDFC vs POTW+AoM+Whoever else. Now THAT would be a slaughter, but I'm sure most here are well aware of what that outcome would be.

You don't "see it often" because that merge tactic doesn't work for turnfighting, which is the type of fight you pursue. Additionally, a vertical lead turn is easily counterable, it's just obvious that you have no idea how to counter it. Instead of being a big boy and taking your loss, you now blame it on my "weak" turning tactics. It's not my fault you aren't aware of how to counter one of the most basic ACM maneuvers in the textbook.
You had the choice of any tactic you wanted. You chose yours and lost.

Actually you could confirm what I stated by simply looking who the CO of The Damned is (oh, wow, it's actually "Damned"). We created the account so that if I or whoever was the CO changed game ID's, the squadron would remain intact. It's also a bonus that our squadron invites ingame say "Damned has requested you join their squadron."Anyone but this guy and his minions buy this?
Now, that being said, please feel free to speculate additional reasons - we've not hidden the fact that the account was ours or that it was a shade (which it actually isn't, since we've been open about it). It was never intended to be a shade, seeing as it's named "Damned" and it's in our squadron. Pretty obvious, actually.
That said, I'm not sure why you're concerned what we do with it. We don't care about the ground war, therefore we don't care about a spying or using it for an advantage in map capturing. We're flattered that some think we use it for hunting players, but that's also not true. We're using it for... much more creative (and innocent) reasons that most wouldn't even care about.
Now, if you think it gives me or any of our squadron an unfair advantage against you, you're welcome to take us to the DA. ;)

Actually it was only me and nuke until he chose to dive down into my friendlies. However, you can watch the video and see that I was the only one following him through past the base (I had my map up towards the end and there are no friendlies around at all).

In your own video, nuke was first being chased by another Bishop that later breaks off when he realizes he can't catch nuke. When you look behind you as you were chasing nuke, there are at least two other Bishop behind you chasing nuke as well. Had nuke turned to engage you, he would have been ganged and with a damaged engine, not a smart tactical move. But then, that narrative doesn't make you look like an "experten".

A great question, sir! How long have you been playing Aces High? At the time of our duel, I had been flying for just at 8 months. So let us pose the actual setting of the fight: a multi-yet veteran fighting against an 8-monther. And yet somehow the 8-monther managed to win 3:1 in planes chosen primarily by the multi-year veteran.
The downside of energy fighting is that it sometimes allows the opponent angles. In two fights, you were able to capitalize on those. In the other six, you were not. Now, factor in that I was still learning the flight mechanics and nuances, such as torque, flap settings, etc. (comparing your years of experience in Aces high against my few months), it's not surprising that I lost two fights. Add in that most of the planes we flew were planes you picked and not planes I had flown previously, and it's a wonder I won. I mean, I personally would be embarrassed in I lost to an 8-monther, regardless of whether I killed him twice or not.
My two losses can be attributed to errors on my part, as most all losses can. I've never made excuses over those, nor do I care to. The final score was 6-2, and you actually stated that you were done, even though you had initially asked me to continue fighting you past the "best of 7" that we agreed to beforehand.
I am curious, though; one of the few aspects of ACM that does not transfer, regardless of previous experience, is gunnery. I'm sort of perplexed that you would claim poor gunnery when I, a relative noon to Aces High, had little gunnery experience myself. At best, that should put our gunnery on equal terms; realistically, I was probably a worse shot than you. Maybe that's just a line of thinking unique to Aces High.I've seen you squirt something about gunnery in Aces High coming naturally to you so spare me this line as well. My gunnery comes and goes, like most. Some days I'm a sniper and can't miss, others I can't hit a barn, but mostly it's just meh. No, I fish in Alaska now. I heard the Oregon season started off great, with big crab, but faded out quickly. I know a lot of boats are already stacking out their gear. Historically most would be fishing hard into February. But that fishery is very cyclical and this might just be a down year. I haven't paid enough attention to it in the last couple of years to say much more. "Safety first!" :)
We had four fights, 3 of which my broken pedals did more to effect the fight than your ACM. But I still congratulated you.

I took 10 minutes to run Triton's playtime for the last 15 tours, including the current tour -- just under 336 hours played. If the comparison was done to Triton's statement of the last 8 months, it would've been half of that.
So, apples to apples, in the same 15 tour period, it's ~1248.5 hours to ~336 hours.

Judging relative energy states is a skill that is especially important with the style of fighting Skyyr and company employ. That skill is only improved by seat time. Basically, the more you see airplanes moving, the better you should be able to judge their every level during a fight.

I practice until the reactions are all but permanently ingrained. So when I come back, even years later, those reactions are still there. It doesn't mean that I'm still in prime shape to still play those sports, but luckily, this doesn't apply to flight sims, as I only need fingers and hands. I would disagree, I think there is things in a game that if you do them more often then someone else, you are going to be better
Here's the hilarity of the entire situation: prior to coming to Aces High, I took four years off from flight sims. From August 2009, to November 2013, I didn't play a single flight sim. So if we go back and look at who's played more over the previous four years leading up to the fight in question, my time is insignificant. I took several 6-18 month breaks from Fighter Ace over my 11 years. Guess what? Same thing. Kruel and BeeLowk can vouch for this - it didn't matter if I was gone for 6 months or 12, my flying was unaffected.I'd say your a special case...congrats!!!
Based on the responses in this thread, I think I'm seeing the problem. Most players here seem to approach dogfighting as a set of moves - turns, and counter-turns, and so on. Sure, if you learned to fly that way, you'd have a hard time taking a break, because you're basing your abilities on who can turn quicker and who can think of the best counter-counter-counter-turn first. These are pre-formulated "moves," which have nothing to do with actual ACM and are little more than video game stunts. Actual ACM is methodical, repeatable, dynamic, and logical when performed correctly. Once learned, it's learned. There is no need to take months or years (lol) to "get back up to speed," because there's virtually nothing to get back up to speed to. And this is why these excuses would have entire forums for other sims rolling with laughter. It's a joke to anyone who's played dogfighting sims competitively. At most you may need a week or two to get your timing and SA back. It's like riding a bike. Stating anything else simply paints you as an over-confident fool who bit off more than he could chew. In our experience, we're used to dealing with hardcore sim pilots who accept their performance, whatever it might be, especially when they throw down the gauntlet and challenge another player. We apologize if this is not the case here.
Please don't make the mistake of thinking skyyr/shadow is representative of all FA immigrants. His persona/antics were loathed in that game even moreso than he has managed in this game to date, though he is admittedly trying very hard to regain his notoriety via the same M.O.

Yeah you did kill me, after I missed one of the easiest shots to make in a 152, and put it into a flat spin. Not to mention there was a P47 buzzing us at the same time. Contrary to what you'd like to believe, just because many of us fly the same way does not make us the same player. You guys seem to think that every time you see a new name, it's a shade. If you actually did a bit of groundwork (on this very forum even), you'd realize Achilles was one of the first members we recruited when we came to Aces High and has been with us since May of 2014.I never said Achilles was a shade. Only stated he has started doing the gear out thing as well.
You may also see several new names flying with us, such as Scoober, Fresco, and JUDAS. Those aren't shades either.

As a general rule of thumb, if you're going to call names, you should be willing to back them up 1v1 in the DA. If that is too risky, we're always down for 2v2, 3v3, etc. I think this just might be fun.
