I wouldn't know where to start as far as listing every bike I've owned. But the last 10 have been..

Triumph Daytona 955i
Suzuki TL1000R
Suzuki TL1000S
Suzuki GSX-R 1100 (Yoshimura Special)
Suzuki GSX-R 600 (race bike)

Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport

Other race bikes,trail bikes and speedway bikes too many to remember.

Oh and as for wearing helmets or not, if you want to rebel against helmet laws for what ever reason then go for it, it's your head. But if you ride bikes alot it's only a matter of time till you have a accident and you''d better have good protective gear and a helmet when you do.

Of all the spills I've had on and off the track I'd say around 60% of the time my helmet never got a scratch. Of those 40% where the helmet did take a hit I certinly wouldn't be alive today if I wasn't wearing one at the time.

You only need to look at stats for head injuries and deaths in those countries/states that do have compulsory helmet laws for bikes compared to those that don't.

As far as helmets go, this past year was the first in PA without the helmet law. I took a spin without one to see what it was like and I liked it. I'll still wear a helmet most of the time but I couldn't care less what others do.

That's also the way I feel about what you ride. I ride a sportbike because that's what I want to ride. I don't care if your riding a homemade wooden bike with a rubberband engine, who am I to piss on your parade?

I don't care if you wear a helmet or not but it should be your choice and not some politicians.

If I raced I would have the bike that was the specialty to that racing and.... It would not be licenced. Any pretend race bike running around on the street is pretty silly to me.

If I raced... I would look for old timey nostalgia races because I could enjoy the older stuff and work on it and not spend the huge amounts required to be competitive on modern bikes. I would not have to race with people who lived high tech and had no other life and were spending more than I make a year to race.

If your only hobby is bikes or you are rich then you will probly be better served with modern equipment in modern venues.

I have lots of hobbies. I would rather tinker and cruise around... so far as I can see... the modern "sport bikes" are chump bikes.. you look silly on em and they are no fun at all unless you are breaking the law and even then... only if you are on the edge of killing yourself.

different skills are required for riding modern bikes fast or well. I have no interest in developing em.

The guys I know who ride em now are doing their best to develop their high speed wheelie skills. I see guys doing wheelstands at 70mph getting onto the freeway around here.... brotherhood or not... I'm not gonna crash my elky to avoid him if he goes down. I know that 18 wheeler ain't.

Yeah Nacho, looks a bit heavy, but if it's the new flagship of moto guzzi, it can't be half-bad..

Still haven't run into a review of it yet.
Also curious to read one for the bimota front swingarm-bike too; Atomo I think.

Lazs, go test a Tuono or tail happy supermoto and see if it's not fun.

I still think that by your logic you should be shooting nerf foam guns. Legality and fun are two fields that corelate only because of civil needs.

Those public stunts are downright stupid, I dunno if even an amoeba couldn't figure that out.
The stunters themselves voided any tolerance for them when they gamble with other motorists safety.

About the helmets, it sounds like just another public/state/whatever liability issue. People should have the right to test darwin if they take the responsibility.

moot... I have ridden some superbikes and they were fun but I was vastly breaking the law having fun on em... I wouldn't want to ride em in a law abiding manner since they are the silliest looking things I can imagine and no fun whatsoever to ride in a legal manner.

The gun/nerf ball thing does not apply... there is no law against me shooting real bullets.... There is no law against sport bike riders doing whatever they want on a track or private land but.... they would get humiliated by any bike there that was set up for the track/venue.

Sport bike riders are pretenders.

well, if I bought a superbike it'd be because I'd take it to track days at least once a month if not every 2 weekends/3, and canyon roads every other day.

The Tuono and supermoto are different things, the tuono is a naked and wide-barred vtwin superbike, but it's as different as it could be from just those few differences.
Supermoto are nothing like Superbikes. Basicaly what a short-winded rally car homologation model is to the actual rally race care is what supermoto's are to dirtbikes; you just adjust the tires and springing to on-road.

I guess this is a slant against (urban) sbk squids, ok.
Just don't mix things up: it's the track riders that'll do the asskicking, not the track bikes.

No need to mention what everyone knows about pilot+machine sums.

moot... if you want to race then race. You will not be competitive on a street bike. There are no "dual purpose" racers... cars or bikes. If you enjoy the track so much you will have to make a decision... you will have to commit in order to be competitive.

the sport bike riders are pale pretenders to the racers.

Sport Bike Riders are pretenders? You could say the same thing about accountants on Harley's pretending to be bad ass. Not sure why you have such a thing for hating sports bikes. Maybe it's because they make harleys look slow. Then again most cars can make a harley looks slow but it's a matter of style and what you prefer. Why slag one style of bike over the other?

As for taking a sport bike onto the track and getting humiliated any modern sport bike can be tuned with a couple of clicks and set it up for quick times on the track. I can do qucker laps today on my GSX-R 1000 with 010's then I could on my old 600 race bike with slicks, bike peformance and tyres especially have come along way. There isn't alot of difference between the bike you buy off the shop floor compared to a bike setup for the track. Unless of course your talking GP Bikes?

A good rider will beat a candy arse on anything. I could take out my TLR and lap half of the R1's and GSX-R 1000's out there on any track day. People get so involved with stats on bikes they really mean bugger all in the real world.Your better off spending the money on some advanced riding schools.

Where abouts in UK are you? I might be moving to Watford soon for work and a change of scenery. Few years ago I toured around UK, mainly Scotland on a Suzuki GS1000 looking to do the same again but on something a bit more modern. And this time make it over to Europe as well.
