Granted this is my perception and all.  I miss seeing LA's, they're such an easy kill when they're not runnin'.

I'll let Lusche pull up all the in depth stats. But the Niki is the 3rd most popular plane now by a good margin. The La7 is way down to about 12,000 last I looked, the Niki is over 26,000 so far this camp. Only the Spits and the P51 are more popular than the Niki at 60,000 and 29,000 respectively.

Combining all Spits into one category is disingenuous to say the least.

You see alot ofgoodsticks flying N1ks, this is probably because of the awesome firepower it has and how many kills you can get in it if you fly it right

Nik2 one of the most popular birds right now because 90% of the guys that fly it only point and shoot. Meaning it has so many cannons they don't have to learn ACM but only spray and pray or try to HO everything in sight.  Dodge the first two HO's with pretty much 90% of the Nik2 pilots and they have no clue what to do next if one of their buddies doesn't come to the rescue.

I was actually thinking of doing a tour in the LA5 now that it only gets about 1,400 kills a tour on average. That plane is so under used now a single good stick could likely turn the stats upside down.

Well, I wasn't really trying to capture the subtype by type breakdown, I was hoping Lusche would do that. The point was to establish that the Spit in general has twice the representation in the MA as the Niki. I would do the same thing for any aircraft that has several subtley differentiated subtypes like the 109s, 190s and the un-perked F4U's. The difference between the subtypes is minimal when compared to the difference between any completely different plane. To subdivide them all up is equally, if not more misleading when dicussing overall, general representation.

OOOps forgot about the Niki---I love using it when defending against Cv attacks.

And I really haven't noticed alot more Nikis lately, but that could be for all the P-51s in the way blocking my view.

They won't fly the Ki84 because it doesn't have the uber 900 rounds of potato guns!

The potatoe guns pretty much stink though. I can give the same burst from a P-51 and still take someones wing off.
