America VS the world

I've been to places all over this world and I have not had any feelings that people hate Americans.  I have been treated nicely wherever I went.

Maybe it is just some of the pathetic personalities on this board that secrete that feeling.

I actual had some Norweigens buy me and a friend a beer at a bar in Tallin, Estonia because we were Americans.

as for anther world war, it is unlikely it will happen in europe. just look at the patterns of major wars and social/ecenomic power shifts...next major war is definatly in the orient, probably starting in north korea followed by a major US supported civil war in china.

Of course they are gonna get shirty if you belittle or ridicule their country, just as you would if they did the same to you.

I have never left Australia, so I don't know what it is like anywhere else, but every American I have met around here has been polite, quiet, helpfull, generous and very complimentary about my country and countrymen.
They are proud of their nation, as they have every right to be, by any measure it is a great country.

They have also, to a man, stated if I ever get to their country, that they would be more than happy to put me up for a few days, show me around etc.
Many, upon finding I have a sister living in the US, and that I will get over there to see her and her adopted country some day, have given me phone numbers and addresses to contact them if I happen to be in their city/county/state.

They are fascinated by our country, it's wildlife, it's scenery and it's people and their ways.....I only hope that when I do get to travel, that I can be as good an ambassador for my country as they are for thier's when over here.

If it came down to, as you put it 'USA vs. The World', I have no doubt what side of the fence I would be on, and it would be rather short on croussaints and big on hamburgers.

(BTW reffering to Europe as 'the rest of the world' is way more arrogant and just plain wrong than Americans saying the US is great......what about Asia, Africa, Australia/NZ/Oceania, India?  thats a whole big chunk of the 'rest of the world' being ommited there)

I'm a pragmatic man. I'll be with the United States. They'd kick your as$es. I'd like us to be standing stronger with our neighbour to the south, but the political climate in our respective countries wont allow it at the moment. I dont think the US does everything correctly, and I dont think they have a great president at the moment (the alternative sucked too), but they have always been there trying to represent ideals that we supposedly believe in when we have often sat back while criticizing and doing sweet frick all.

I aint a US cheerleader. They make mistakes, and have had some bad apples in govt. Which country in the world is immune to these things? They've sacrificed alot so that we can enjoy this freedom we take for granted every day, and that earns them some slack during tough times, like today. If push came to shove (I seriously doubt anything of this nature will happen), I would be at their disposal.

Just to add, I dont want to take away from sacrifices any Canadian on this board has made or has experienced. I know we have contributed greatly in the past, but things seem very different today. I think we rely on, and take for granted, the US too much. Oh, and your welcome, for that butt kicking we delivered to the russians yesterday

thanks bluedog..  I visited england and Scotland and had a great time.   If there was any animosity towards me because of me being American I couldn't tell...  I spent a lot of the time in a rented car driving around all over the place.   I would like to visit australia.... I know guys there in my modified Healey group.

I think mechanic is just young and has no real perception of history.   We generally don't get involved in euro wars until the bad guys are really getting uppity and the good guys are doing really badly.  

sholtzie may be right but... we unified after a very bloody civil war.. one of the bloodiest in history for those of you who think the U.S. has no stomach for casualties...  at the end we were unified.  euro wars are about the same thing but the roles are reversed.... the people wanting to do the unifying are real bad folk.    not sure if you can do it without another war and the guys who want a free europe don't have the stomach to fight unless attacked... economics may make it happen but... doubt it.

and fishu... I think your politics suck but if you are in the area drop by... we won't fight unless you want to but I tend to be "argumentative"  I have met a lot of the players here and seem to get along with then fairly well... I am louder tho.
