In AHI, before chuters had a .45, You could not end sortie in flight. You had to wait until you landed to tower out.If they had alot of alt (Over 10k) you would sometimes see them on all channel asking to be chuteshot, as it was a 15-30 min. drop to the ground. Now, at that time, all you could do as a chute was act as an FO. You could still see GV icons, but that was it. Thing was, maps then had simpler terrain, and with terrain effects disabled, everything was more or less in flat planes. You would have to goto a town, city, factory, etc. in which to hide a GV.The FO function did'nt really have as much impact on the outcome of a ground fight. At this time, I remember alot of people would get mad about shooting chuters(no pun intended) and would scold greatly over the ALL channel. Enter AHII; Now, FO aircraft show at every GV battle, because now we have a terrain that really works. NOW, in this instance, a chute is as much a threat as the complete aircraft was, because he retains his FO abilities, He's just not as mobile. Add to the fact that quite often, now, you will see in a battle over a field town, When 'Base Suppression' arrives to shoot aircraft spawning on the ends of the runways, A fast plane (LA-7) will up out of the Fh, zip over as close to town as he can, bail out of a UNDAMAGED plane, just to hide in the maproom with his .45, so that he can foil said field capture. (Note:You could'nt do this in AHI, since the chute wasn't armed.) Due to the changes in the game, It's made changes to the gameplay. We're just gonna have to adapt, and cope, with this. Or go back to playing canned WWII flight sims against AI pilots who are 'programmed' to follow rules....
