Had a great one recently when I bailed from a buff just as I switched to TCMP prior to a disco. My icon must have remained but I couldn't be hit. Three guys must have expended at least 3000 rounds from a p38, Spit & p47 trying to kill the chute. It was the funniest thing I have seen in AH. Bet they thought I was "cheating" as the disco finally happened.

Thanks everyone for giving me your opinions!  Like I said earlier, this isn't a gripe or to complain.  I guess it just hit me the wrong way that day.  I don't get to fly every day because work keeps me busy.  Flying is one way I can wind down after a busy night.  I guess that because I have to deal with knuckleheads at work, I dont expect it when I'm on my time.

One thing I do agree with that many of you have said is if a person is deliberately trying to HO or vulch, then by all means, blast em out of the sky.  I wasn't implying that I bailed out to save my score.  I didn't even know that it would.  You win against a very able opponent in a good dogfight and then you spoil the victory by killing them in the chute.  I just didn't get that.

As far as honor and integrity goes, sorry, thats the way I was brought up.  Fair play and respect don't just apply to life outside AH2.  After all, I'm flying against a real person in a make believe world.  Don't they deserve a fair fight too?

Thanks for hearing me out and "educating" me a little more!:aok

1. Shooting chutes is fun
2. You don't really die
3. There's no better use for .303 bullets
4. Be a man, go down with your ship and save your dignity.

p.s., you can exit the sortie while in the silk before you get shot.

In WWII chute shooting did happen, not to say it was a honorable act, just dont pull your cord so fast! who wants to wait 5 minutes to get to the tower? The guy was doing Obie a favor! When i see a chute at a high alt Ill take it out since the guy probably just pressed enter too many times accidentaly.

exactly.

the amount of times ive died by a 0.45 while sitting on the runway is really not funny. so now if theres a chute, its a valid target.

edit: and LOL to the video :aok

I'm actually suprised that I've never been shot in chute. I'm one of those that will call "check six's", run into a map room or stand at the end of a runway and plink pilots. I've even taken pot-shots at passing airplanes.

I've never shot a chute, because I've never been shot in chute and I didn't think it could be done. Now I know better.

Wow, I've learned a lot since I've switched to the rooks. I've just discoved that there's a forum, that some people actually talk on the radio, teamwork is still alive in some places outside of the squads, some cv's shouldn't be moved, there's a scoring system, vc200 is a chatroom with a game attached (learned this about a month before leaving the bishops), a downed pilot can stand on a runway and shoot you (I was the pilot shot) and now I've learned that chutes can be shot.

I need to come in here more often.

If HTC never intended for them to to be shot, they wouldn't be coded that way.

That being said, I think its kinda lame, but I dont let it bother me, some guy wants to shoot at me while im in a chute, hoorah for him.  I suspect that with a few, they view it as a way to actually kill something.

Dont get so upset over it.

If you bother to bail, just end sortie and return to tower. Riding the chute to the ground does nothing more for you than waste time and invite attack.

If chutes weren't supposed to be shot, they wouldn't explode when you shoot them.

Not to mention the pretty explosions, :rofl

i wish you could shoot the silk so that the meatbomb falls to the ground.

HTC needs to add more chute killing features.

Even better, we could have the tracers set the silk on fire!
